Frosty_Mentos
Was considering why not just make ocean keep on going but instead of anything much being out there it would be just end of the map and your boat would start taking in holes like in Sea of Thieves, slowly or breaking down fast depending on how far out of bounds you go? Or shadows or special monsters that are part of the constant of sorts would not allow you to pass to escape. In that way there would be possible to make new secret islands of sorts in the outer bounds without needing to suffer the minimal amount of space that there's left in the current DST ocean! I don't know if it's a big limitation that you can't build or do anything outside the bounds, or to have any kind of tile or turf where it all ends. At least in future update you could make the sea bigger, formidable and more adventurous. Right now it's all just a big fat lake with monkey pests around and moon tissue floating about. Cheggf
Sailing would be 100x better if it was replaced with the fog from Shipwrecked, where going into it would fade your screen out and have you appear on the other side of the map with some sanity lost from the journey. Is that even possible in a multiplayer game though?

After all, it simply teleports you to the other side, a single negative sign would do. 58 minutes ago, Frosty_Mentos said: the minimal amount of space that there's left in the current DST ocean! But we always have had teleports of players in several ways, never of a full boat with all its structures. I'm no modder and I would assume it can be done, but at least on the programming side they would have to add a few new things for it to happen. You are a very smart individual with a bright future ahead of you. You stand on the shoulders of giants. This is the single most sensible thing uttered on the entire forums and it's such a shame this has only been said as a supplement to a thread rather than being centered as an idea proposition altogether. Personally, I've commissioned mods before. I know Klei REALLY hates it when mods are paid, but f it. If I want something done in game that is specific and cannot do myself, I'll pay someone to do it for me. Depending on how passionate you are, you can either make the mod yourself or do what I did and find a good modder to do it for you and pitch it to klei as a functioning idea, all the while saying no money was exchanged. What klei doesn't know won't hurt it. I'd pay a modder to do it for me, but I've just recently come to accept that the ocean sucks if your name doesn't start with Wood and ends with ie
-Nick-
There is actually a unused giant shadow hand that would "stop" your boat from going over the edge. Sucks that it's not in the game.

Paxtonnnn
I’d love to see an animation of the boat falling off the edge before getting sent to the other side of the world, though I know that’d probably be HELL to animate. If they do change it though, I really hope they don’t remove the steep drop visually, it’s such a nice touch especially with the cutout ocean below

CameoAppearance
Using console commands it's already possible to spawn a boat on the far side of the wall, teleport over to it and sail into the infinite void. Eventually the game stops being able to render your sprites, and if you try to drop an anchor it crashes because there's no seafloor.
Antynomity
Just break up the mainland into close-by islands already, no, don't make it a world setting, I'm tired of the ocean being gutted by default because of how the world generates, be brave, not scared to make big changes to the game. If the ocean gets nothing to make traversing from one side of it to another then no matter how much stuff they stuff into it the ocean will always be a not fun experience long-term. Commissioned mods are pretty common as long as they're free for all or are private and for your own use. At least from what I remember with one mod incident that shook up the forum and Klei themselves to make a decision. But that's all I know. Back to topic. 9 hours ago, _zwb said: Why wouldn't it be? Even if seastacks were removed some ocean parts will feel very quick to travel cause objectives are very much squished into corners of the map. 35 minutes ago, yourAnty said: Just break up the mainland into close-by islands already, no, don't make it a world setting, I'm tired of the ocean being gutted by default because of how the world generates, be brave, not scared to make big changes to the game. I really wanted the mainland to have the option or be split up and make small biomes. There was a Mactusk biome glitch on one generated map I remember when playing public. It was slightly away from mainland but it was a massive biome with just some boating or bridging to make to it. It felt very exciting. Only issue with this is that biomes themselves are huge, unless Klei decides to make executive decision to either merging some of them and downsizing the entire constant I see not a lot what else they could do to turn it into archipelago of sorts. Though I'd be totally down for it even as an optional thing. In that case maybe I'd focus more on doing boating to secure resources all around than just few islands I'd visit on occasion.
