Wormwood should get innate planar defense.

Recommended Posts

Wormwood is a lunar creation like the brightshades, he should start acting like it

Damage sticks to him the most out of any survivor so it would be nice for him to have this.

Hmm, I too want some more lunar affiliation out of Wormwood but I'm not sure about this idea. (Also, are we talking about the planar defense with a unique resistance formula against normal damage, or the planar defense that is additive defense against planar damage?)

Reason I'm eh to the idea is because there is a clear difference between the early lunar forces and post-rift lunar forces, and Wormwood just popping out the portal with planar defense sounds personally odd to me. Planar defense/damage is also not necessarily a lunar thing! It's something for both lunar and shadow forces as their respective rifts open up.

Before it was confirmed each character would get the ability to align with shadow or lunar forces, I was really wanting Wormwood to uniquely boost the new lunar plant gear when worn (Not just extra stats please! Something unique). With that confirmation in mind though, I'm interested to see how they tackle affiliation, I hope they go a little extra on Wormwood!

Wouldn't mind some early perks/content related to lunar before rift content. I've always liked how his lunar side isn't exactly a full focus, just a sort of hidden side to him that peaks out every now and then (I found it really cool how no characters knew what to do with the Distilled Knowledges, but Wormwood does! Everyone's just questioning what to do with it and Wormwood non-chalantly says "Plant in funny floor :D" :D). During his port to DST, he lost an item in his kit as it would have no function in DST. Think it would be great to get one unique lunar-related item as a replacement in there that he possibly unlocks when getting to an altar? (An idea I had was something to temporarily flip your sanity bar from Sanity <->Enlightenment or vice versa, that can have a lot of great applications). Lot's of fun things you can do with him.

I rambled a bit there, but I had to! He's probably my favourite character in this franchise whose kit and gameplay loop I really enjoy and would love to only see expanded :) .

While I'm not against it I think he's a mutant like horror hound rather than like the brightshades who are possessed.

I see him as a gem possessing a plant myself.

The gem being alive is a mutation though because as far as we've seen gems aren't naturally alive and my idea is that through that mutation it bonded with the plant.

on the one hand, ordinary rocks fall from the moon, but the source still has me thinking it's more supernatural

Yeah, how much mutation could there even have been? In Wormwood's Short, a Green Gem (most likely not in the shape that ordinary gems are because it dropped directly from the Moon uncut) caused some vines to grow around it, creating Wormwood. Besides the rapid growth of the vines (and human-like organs forming as a result) there isn't much "mutation" going on there, just the Green Gem (Theme: Construction/Creation, Wormwood being created) doing its magic.

I'm still if a mind that every one of his crafts should get an upgrade and change the vines on said crafts to brightshade or void ones.

This arc is meant to focus on late game potential, but wormwood has none.

His traps/husk could gain planar dmg to gain an edge.

His compost wrap should let him skip blooming phases so it has a more practical use that isnt immediately outclassed by jelly beans/salves.

If he has dark tendencies than change the thorns black and vines red, but the premise is the same.

Planar damage (or defence) wouldn't be lore breaking imo it just depends on how he acquires it. I think lunar and shadow forces are meant to be different faces of the same coin. Shadow weapons have planar dmg, as do lunar ones, they are apposing eldritch forces but only in goals. However, the nature of their energies are the same, cosmic and powerful.

With this in mind, it could be something he gains the longer he exposes himself to these influences.

Yeaah just SOMETHING. wormwood is the perfect vehicle to introduce some unique interactions with all the lunar content in the game. I dont get why it hasnt happened yet.

And exactly, his abilities definitely leave room for additional perks that reflect his lunar roots more.
