Embernode
I love rock jaws, but only getting large fish meat is kinda underwhelming. so what if they gave a new loot? maybe teeth or a jaw could be dropped and give cool new recipes like weapons or armor. or some rock jaw skin giving a new shark hat or backpack with 12 slots. or a shark jaw crown for sanity. Mike23Ua
Here’s a Crazy Idea but Sharks have well uhh Sharp rows of Teeth, so.. it makes sense that they’d have an Upgraded Version of the Hounds Tooth item, perhaps to build more powerful Tooth traps with, or to upgrade your Wooden Walls with actual spikes defensive capabilities that deal damage to enemy mobs that are near it (like spiked walls from 7 days to Die) I mean it’s not a super super important upgrade… but it would make their loot more useful then it is now. Primalflower
IMO, rockjaws are fine in how much loot they give, but if I were to entertain the thought of giving them a new drop, I think the idea of being able to craft some kind of shark tooth crown ala shipwrecked for sanity makes some sense. It can be difficult to keep sanity up sometimes at sea, and the price to pay is super high if you do, since effectively only terrorbeaks exist there. Such a good sanity option available early on specialised after a sea playstyle sounds very inviting. Just, I think I'd rather prefer the Rockjaws to eventually drop directly that fashioned crown as their whole maw (so metal...) than introducing a new resource to craft a singular item and forget about it. Was only looking to post that I'd prefer an equipment to drop over more ingredients and this idea goes really well toward that feeling. (And I suppose the crown itself could be needed as resource if further shark themed crafts are considered to be added, naturally) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/147639-rock-jaws-need-new-loot/#findComment-1634090 Share on other sites

I can see the potential behind a RockJaw Bear Trap device. goatt
rockjaw trap is a new kind of trap that will continuously bite what's standing on top of it until the mob(s) die(s) because of rockjaw bite reflex atk dmg: 30 atk rate: twice a sec total durability: 100 times aoe radius: same anenemy (total life span: 50 sec) (total dmg: 3000 = 0.44 dark sword) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/147639-rock-jaws-need-new-loot/#findComment-1634436 Share on other sites
starbond01
I think if the Gnarwail drops its horn to craft a weapon, the Rockjaw would sometimes drop its jaw (maybe as part of crafting armor): Upside Jaw: (1 Jaw (33% drop from Rockjaw), 2 Rope (for the strap)) - Armor (Head) - 70% Protection (up to 90% when at sea) - 450 HP - Special Ability: The Upside Jaw can be used to fill water, and when worn while filled with water, the player's wetness reaches its maximum (it can also be used for watering or disguising fire). Mike23Ua
Another potential use for RockJaw sharks are Boat Patches, I mean if Klei logic is to plug a hole with a Bees Stinger, then shoving a sharks tooth in that hole would equally be logical too right? PLUS this actually makes boat patches obtainable without needing to go back to the main island area, so I’m all for this to be added. Im trying to think up creative ways to replace the tedium that is needing to abandon seafaring adventures and go back to the mainland to gather resources that should have At-Sea Alternatives to going all the way back to the mainland. And at the same time, give players a desire and reason to want to fight RockJaw Sharks. So 12-16 teeth, used to craft the following items sound Awesome: Jaw Trap: Basically it’s an improved version of Tooth Trap that deals more damage, and like a bear trap, temporarily ensnares its targets in its Jaw. Spiked Wall: an Upgrade to Regular Walls that allows mobs that walk into them to take damage from walking into them (an idea stollen directly from popular survival sandbox game 7 Days to Die) Sharktooth Patches: An at sea alternative to regular boat patches (better than needing bee stingers or gloomer goop) just plug these suckers directly over into the hole with maybe some figgy tree jam from the Waterlogged Biomes and you don’t even need to return to land to repair leaks in your boats. That's not the point if you asked or not you said that was Klei's logic that you plug the holes with the stinger which is not what it is. if you don't want a hole in your boat use grass boats and new holes can't form that removes the tedium Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/147639-rock-jaws-need-new-loot/#findComment-1635920 Share on other sites
