Easy way to remove new Spaced Out soundtracks?

Recommended Posts

They play half the time and when they do, I just absolutely loathe them. The originals were way better and kept me interested in playing the game. The new ones just annoy me and makes me wish the old ones would be the only ones I would hear cycling through as I play. Any way I can even just edit the soundtrack files to not have them play? I still want to play with the DLC enabled however.

I also checked, and there doesn't appear to be a mod that removes them either.

You just won't have the sound effects that play in the mornings

I think there is an option to mute music/soundtrack only and leave other sound effects play, isn't there?

Jambell will still be sad though :wilson_cry:

So, no? I was thinking something along the lines of editing the game's code or taking out the sound files so the new Spaced Out tracks don't play and I can enjoy the list of only the old tracks being played back-to-back.

Also no need to cry about it. Klei just doesn't make the best content sometimes. Starting to get the notion that the initial development of a game until its finish line gets the best content and then when it gets to around or post-production you get a bunch of pointless mechanics while a bunch of things are left unaddressed. Exploits don't get addressed usually, frustrating mechanics never get QOL and instead you get a bunch of stuff that does effectively nothing, it's just how they end up operating for some bizarre reason.

The last 2 updates for ONI have included some neat stuff (like some of the critter morphs, even though I'm not sure if they are as useful as they first appear to be), but some of it just looks like extra crammed-in ideas that really didn't need to be added while there are a slew of issues that they, for whatever reason, do not want to address to make the game better.

I'll take a proper air lock door, solid pass-through visco gel tiles, scafolding, a proper germ system and balanced resource production/consumption on buildings and plants/critters as well as actual implementation of the blueprint mechanic over being able to reskin snazzy suits and a gimmicky sleep stat-boosting mechanic that exist for no good reason. Just seems like they're wasting their time on things that really don't matter at that point.

And who can forget this suggestion, of which a similar mod exists right now (had to dig to find my suggestion topic on it because the search function does not work and the topics I made have a limit of like 5 pages on my profile now, wtf?). Dupes peeing on the floor is something that exists and will persist as a learning mechanic, even late game, but the water pool being constantly at almost the risk of being contaminated no matter what you do is a game problem that cannot be addressed unless you never want to use the pitcher pump again. You can mitigate it, but never fully prevent it. This change in mechanic would solve it, yet it's infuriating that this has not been taken a look at.

As much as I treasure some of the wonderful tunes they've created, I'd have to say more options is better. A simple playlist with checkboxes.

Why not? It's too easy. It's like they dread making things better.

I agree as much as it hurts my heart as well, granted I've not heard it much. Allowing players to tailor the game experience to taste is a good thing, imho.

Spoiler

Have you tried deleting expansion1_Music.bank?

You can find it in

Quote

\Steam\steamapps\common\OxygenNotIncluded\OxygenNotIncluded_Data\StreamingAssets

That should get rid of the three DLC tracks: Brighter Future, To the Stars, and LCD.

But it might break game in unexpected ways. :wilson_worried:

Edit: Don't do it, it breaks the game.

I suppose a hypothetical way would be to replace all the files in the expansion1_music.bank with blank noise and then recompile it...but I don't exactly know how to do that, I only know how to extract it.
