  1. 1. Would you like to see changes to Webber?

    • No, the character is perfect already
    • No, the character is fine as is
    • Yes, but only some QoL changes
    • Yes, some new mechanics would be nice
    • Yes, and I would love to see a full rework
  2. 2. Webber changes:

    • [QoL] Shattered spider AoE doees not hurt other followers by same leader
    • [QoL] Make webber spiders despawn with Webber when he logs off (like beefalos on beefalo bell)
    • [QoL] Spiders become silent when befriended by webber
    • [Optimization] Reduce spider lag (wild and friendly)
    • [New] A way for webber to befriend/tame/ride spider queen
    • [New] Webber items that makes webber learn abilities of his spider friends (temporarily)
    • I don't like any of the above options
    • Something else (comment below)

I'd probably want certain Spiders buffed only when recruited by Webber.

Dangling Depth Dwellers should have more purpose in transforming Spiders into given the cost of their Switcherdoodle. Maybe make them deal more damage in dusk/night and less in daytime?

Spitters should try to get as much distance as possible from targeted enemies while on attack cooldown.

Sea Striders should extinguish themselves faster/take less fire damage than other Spiders.

I don't see a issue with this being added to the base spiders themselves as interesting quirks(tho the spitter thing would probably have to be tweaked or not used since while it would encourage carrying ranged weapons it'd probably make them too dangerous.

If WX78 can have infinite night vision, why doesn’t the character who is a Spider?, Spiders only come out of their nests at dusk/night or when provoked…

Theres a unique and fun playstyle to be had with a character who can work/do stuff at night, but who’s sleeping mechanics are inverted (can sleep during day instead of nights)

I'd love it if den decorations wouldn't be destroyed when the den or a spider belonging to that den is attacked and instead only when shaved with a razor. The den decorating kit sounds nice on paper, but it's only really good for recruiting spiders and even though it also pacifies them, I feel like Webbers should still set up their spider dens a healthy distance away from the main camp in most cases. As it is now, I'd much rather maintain my dens at level 2 than lock them in at level 3 with decorations as I can still instigate spider wars and use them as protection from hounds.

Oh, and I'd also like it if the sea strider switcherdoodle only required one fig instead of two. Or maybe even require kelp fronds instead of figs since those are a lot easier to farm.

Reminds me of the merm who claims they can still see in the dark from a species that cannonically can see in the dark but still dies because it's too dark...

I feel some of the spiders could use some changes to stand out from eachother in Webbers kit. A lot of them end up unfortunately samey, the hider spiders could be really cool but since they only hide when being attacked and when theyre hiding, another spider will probably attack the enemy, making the whole shielding thing kind of useless, warriors and depth dwellers are just reskins of each other too.

That's all I could ask for.

I do wish some of the spiders had slightly more unique abilities.

The dangling depth dweller could really use some extra bonuses.

Spiders wander too far from their nest. You have to keep them so far away from your base if you don't want them getting permalocked onto Chester, or destroying your walls. Speaking of destroying walls, that's stupid as well and removes any option of addressing the wandering issue yourself.

Pigs and Bunnymen don't destroy walls. I have a Bunnymen pen, and I once spawned the Frog rain next to them. They literally murdered all the Frogs through the walls, and neither of them did a single hit of damage to said walls.

It doesn't stop people from making automated Spider farms, and you literally have a character that's designed around farming them in bulk. I can see the point for bosses since you'd just be able to trap them and kill them from a distance. But spiders destroying walls just makes Webbers life so much harder.

I had to rollback twice because even though I placed my spiders 10 turf tiles away, one single straggler walked all the way up to my moleworm pen and destroyed a single wall and ran back to his nest smiling. It's always that single one that walks absurdly far for no reason and messes everything up. Look at my base: it took me a long fricking time to dig up all that turf and clear out the trees. Yet there's not a single place for me to put a spider farm, because they'll either fight with the bees, walk into my tooth trap hound disposal setup, destroy the walls around my pigs and bunnymen, or destroy my moleworm pen at the top. So I have to put them absurdly far away. Recruiting them is also hard when they wander so far, and at day time they'll wander off in a perfect circle and then all walk back in. It's like it's intentional to annoy Webber.

dont starve base.jpg

pls make spiders scream less often, i dont want to lose my irl sanity. The spider noises is what makes me refusing to play him

increased moon spiders aoe damage perhaps? a way to make them less of a joke as foe and as friend

Isn’t that weird that Webber’s favorite dish is ice cream? It doesn’t make sense in my opinion. It should be like bunny stew or or strait up butterflies or even maybe butter muffin and change wx’s fav to something another. What do you guys think

if we take their kid part it makes sense since kids loves ice cream and dst ice cream is made of electric milk which might bring home memories since their family live in a goat farm

Another change: make Spider Glands stack to 40 just like Silk. They can't be fed to Bearger like Rot or burned in a fire, so you need to drag stacks and stacks of it to a Lureplant. Cutting the storage they take up in half would go a long way. You get tons of it while doing spider civil wars to farm and late game you can't even use enough of it, despite that it's essentially endless free healing.

Spider glands and down feathers would benefit from higher stacks, indeed.
