Wx should have 7 upgrade slots not 6

The seventh slot could be standard or upgradable with gears/wires/milk and lost on death. idk.

The point is that intermediate upgrades (3 slots, most notably summer/winter ones but also health regen/sanity) automatically remove 2 2x modules variants (most notably speed but other perks too) and/or remove big 4x modules (most notably nightvision)

This severely limits the useful combinations like 2 speed 1 thermal module or 1 nightvison and a 3x module (thermal/regen)

Relatively unrelated, but the simple light aura should be 3 slots not 4

He's not. Current 6 slots result in bland combos and most of his perks replicate items that are already in game

I agree with @reallychina. There were a lot of combinations that I would have liked to have done but couldn't do because it was 1 slot too many.

It would allow for 3+2+2 slots combinations as well as 3+4 slot combos.

For example, for my first Winter, I had used the Thermal Plug + Acc 2.0 + the Hardy Circuit.

But if had the option of 7 plugs, I would have used the Thermal Plug + Opto/Illumination Circuit instead. I would be willing to give up speed boost so I could see during Winter.

Bro, you’re sounding pretty condescending here, though you might not mean to, and i think itd be better if you just agree to disagree.

a seventh slot would be nice, but even with a seventh slot, you couldn’t have stats like what was possible pre rework. And thats ignoring overcharge. You couldnt even simulate overcharge. Youd need speed +light plus heat, which would need 2 + 4 + 3 or 9 slots. At least with seven you can be mostly winterproof with light. You couldnt be any faster, none of the upgrades are game breakingly powerful either. They’re all nice, but each upgrade combination would make an underwhelming character, its the ability to switch that makes wx’s new rework interesting, and i stand by the idea that it could benefit from one extra slot. A second one wouldnt be the craziest idea either. I think you’re overestimating the strength of each individual slot.

no, because you'd be going back to being dependent on a single other char.

 

7th slot can be an upgrade or something you get with goat milk only or something

I don't need to play it to understand it. His perks are just item combinations. Creativity is severely limited with 6 slots.

No you really dont. They played… exactly how i expected them too. The light module is just an extra slot for a light tool. Powerful, but i could have just had a miners hat and chest armor. Now i can have a backpack and head armor… whoopie it let me have my backpack. (I play lights out and im still pretty eh about that perk, its main draw is i could set and forget) Or i could have had miners hat backpack and shield. Speed is very nice as well. But its not as strong as he used to be. 
 

im going to be straightforward and specific to you. Name one combination possible with 7 slots that is game breakingly powerful. Not convenient or useful. Something that needs a nerf if it was a character all on its own.

Can we please stop trying to make WX into some master of all traits? That would be really great..

if you want perks you need to pick & choose between them, but to just be able to combine most of them and have all these crazy effects.. it would just be too much- even for a Robot. In the end: The character still has to fall in line in both difficulty and fun factor with the rest of the cast..

Otherwise, Klei should just give WX Ironmans Omega Chest Beam to blast everything in sight with and call it a day.

Why target Wolfgang for so much Nerfing if your just going to boost WX to crazy levels?

I know my opinions going to be a highly unpopular one: but I say we tone the Robot down a peg or two. To at least be on the same page with Wendy & Wolfgang.

Its a good thing wx is weaker than ever and cant even do a discount overcharge with 7 slots (speed plus heat plus light needs 9) he’s customizable, but none of the customizations are crazy powerful on their own.

Your the Wurt main.. 600 Hp is like 2 Wurts I don’t think any character in the entire game needs 600 hp, and no I don’t care one bit “but WX used to be able to eat gears” Wolfgang got hit with some heavy nerfs to balance him out, I fully expected that WX would too.. 

but I’m also the type of player who enjoys a decent challenge, and 600 hp isn’t that challenge.. if it was up to me, Hp would cap at a max of 350.

I don’t have to be in the beta to understand that WX can socket Health upgrades into itself to run around at 600 hp.

but if you have 600hp means that you only have 600hp, nobody will upgrade wx in that way when there are speed boost, weather inmunity or light...

600hp has abi and deals aoe damage which removes any challenge outside of certain raid bosses... 200hp and x2 damage removes even more the challenge than having 600 hp (which again, nobody with more than 10h of playtime will use), armies like weeber's or wurts armies removes the challenge way more than 600hp, etc, etc, etc

maybe you dont have to be in the beta to understand that is possible to reach 600hp but you need to play the beta (along with other things...) to understand that being able to reach that hp isnt a big deal because the players interested in such hp boost wont survive much anyways and the ones that know how to play wont be interested in that upgrade combination

That makes you sound fairly inexperienced if you think thats a big deal. Six hundred health is a LOT… but it doesn’t matter much. Its always come down to armor durability anyway. Maxwell has an effective health of 375 the second he puts on a football helmet. Wilson has 750. Wolfgang has 1500. But you dont have that much effective health unless you have the armor to back it up. Having twice wolfgangs health doesnt matter because you need twice as much armor for it to actually matter. With a marble suit, maxwell (75 max health) has an effective health (how much raw health youd need to match his survivability with the damage reduction in play) of 1500. Because marble armor provides 95% damage reduction. Max health is a minor benefit, anything over 150 is nice, but not necessary, if i could trade 50 health for an extra slot and have 100 max health and 7 slots, id gladly do it.

don't starve is also a game of choice. that's why you can't have both armor and backpack since the old times of the game.

where is the challenge when you can cover all your problems with upgrades? sure, that's nice. but that's not the devs intention. choosing between extra speed and heat is in fact a very fair trade. some upgrades costing 3 slots is also very good for this: do you really wanna give up on some "crucial" upgrade for this luxury? make it two slots and it becomes op, make it four slots and it becomes useless.

What ends up happening is that I just don't use the 3 and 4 slot circuits as often as I would like.

In fact, I ended up choosing BOTH extra speed AND heat.

and that's okay! after all, it's still a game of choice. for example: i don't see myself ever using the heat upgrade because i don't feel like i need to sacrifice two upgrade slots for two inventory slots (two thermal stones). i'd rather carry the stones around during winter and have extra speed or health.

on the other hand if the freezing circuit could prevent overheat i would take it over thermal stones given any circunstance as i hate cooling them downn.

if the choices are underwhelming, there aren't really choices to be made.

 

Right now a strong wx is either 3xspeed and 1xspeed and moggles (wearing helm instead) for ruins. That's it. He has no damage modifiers and potential for extra damage (except from squeezing an extra hit or 2 on 3x speed)

 

Any other combinations are QOL at best - you can do just fine without them. You have magi for light, you have thermal stones, other modules are even worse. 

 

HP is irrelevant because there is armor in the game. Any char over 100 or 150 is fine.

 

Most other chars either have great utility or great damage or both ( damage is not only wolfgang/wigfrid/wanda, it's minion chars too and warly). Other chars may lack damage but have good utility.

 

WX has no utility, well maybe he can be a walking cooler/heater but again, that's more like QOL than perk.
