Nearly every oasis I've seen has been 10 light years away from everything else.

Sometimes the whole world generates as a loop thus Oasis desert becomes the first biome past the florid postern, removed by a river, easily passed through boat.

In general, even when it generates on a far corner of the world, rowing there offers a betterz safer, more convenient route via sea. Perfect for a summer outpost, connecting it to other biomes of importance like decidious, swamp, dragonfly desert, mosaic etc.

It really depends on worldgen. You can get lucky with rivers. It's usually away from most things if the spider quarry is present, other times it's behind the df desert. I'd recommend going to caves during summer if you don't want to deal with flingo range, OP. You can also plant a lureplant if you think a small portion of your base is outside the range, they catch on fire before anything else by wildfires.

Jakeysauros has a good video. Here's the link. You want to go to 9:45, there will be a screenshot.

The layout is not so good. There is no point for furnace to be in flingo range, there should be more than one furnaces, farm plots should be far from structures so that you burn weeds, etc

you can use pitchfork to dig up a octagon, each side is 3 tiles, and put ice flingo in the center. The octagon is the range of ice flingomatic and you can safely design within it.

Leave furnace, bird cage, fire pits outside of the octagon because they can’t catch fire.

Near the fire pit, build your pots and ice boxes and furnace, as they meant to be together. Alchemy engine and shadow manipulator and their chests can be built around the same area. Typical, this kitchen + structure area takes about 1/4 of the octagon.

second 1/4 should be used for drying rack. They are big.

Third 1/4 is for plants. Grass tufts, saplings, berry bushes and stone fruits. If you farm, build them around the soil.

The final 1/4 is used for pig house prison with walls and baits. I keep my pig skin farming close.

The above is bare minimum, but is enough in my game play. But I usually get a second octagon with iceflingo for bee boxes, more chests, more plants and other structures. Tho I recommend 2 flingomatic because you’ll need it.

But nowadays, I mostly only build ocean nut tree bases and completely skip iceflingo.

How do i make a good base that is small, and fits in a range of ice flingomatic?

You can use a flingo and 4 lureplants to greatly extend the range of wildfire protection, or just play with wildfires off. No shame, offscreen wildfires are devastating.
