[SUGGESTION ]Insulated flooring from thick fur.

Recommended Posts

We can't really share thick fur with players but after wondering what long term good thing Wolfgang could do with his carrying speed I got an idea of being able to craft insulated flooring from bearger's fur.

Placed items there would spoil slower.

It could slow down spoilage rate of anything but giant crops by 33% so it's still worse than icebox but you can leave it there if you have no space in icebox.

Giant crops though could recieve at least 50% spoilage rate.

Hardcore farmers would love this, Wolfgang could help a lot with transporting the giants off the field.

"bUt YoU'rE nOt sUppoSed To hAve acCEss to FreSH fOoD For SO loNG", bundling wrap exists, stonefruits exist, average giant trees exist, lureplants on boat exist, your argument is invalid.

Placing food on hairy floor to make it last longer seems kind of dumb,I think it would be better if it made heat and cold auras stronger and/or made your tempature change more slowly

Things that make you stationary for long periods of time are dumb just like walter's campfire stories, waste of time. Hairy backpack with gears makes food spoil slower, salt with blue gems so why not hairy floor with blue gems.

I’m not sure who would prefer a giant pile of food on the floor over organized ice boxes, however I could see this being nice if you run out of space in your ice boxes and don’t want to make more because it’d ruin your perfect crock pot setup or smth. However, as you said, it’s worse than ice boxes, which is pretty bad for an item most players will only be able to access after an in-game year. I imagine by then food storage is not an issue.

Salt was and still is used to preserve some foods. Salt boxes/barrels are a thing in real life.

Insulated backpacks are a thing too. These kind of backpacks retain cool temperatures inside them for quite long time.

There is nothing "dumb" about it.

Putting food on exposed to air furry floor to make it last longer is weird even for this game's standards.

I never called insulated pack dumb. I called "dumb" things that motivate players to stay in place and do nothing.

It working for food would be just bonus. Main purpose would be storing giant crops.

Nice idea, i think such flooring could also provide cold insulation, like big trees provide wetness protection

This was done with mods like, back in DST beta I think? Ought to still be around...
And it's always felt weird at a conceptual level. Insulation because of the floor you're standing on...while you're out in the cold, snow on the ground, no actual protection from the elements. Just feels off.

Similarly just doesn't feel right, but...more importantly, fridges and salt boxes do the same job already, but better. As does Insulated Pack, which is made of the Fur anyway.

And item-insulation on flooring would encourage players to make a mess of their bases.
Er, more of a mess.
Please no.

Wax does exist for using giant crops as decorations.

Ok here's my pitch: Floor you can sleep on without needing a fur roll or straw roll. Just go to sleep whenever you want, but you only get half as much as you do from a normal tent in terms of sanity/hp. Could even improve the effectiveness of tents on top of it(?)

HORN OF CLEANING!

Or a new goat character. :wilson_sneaky:
