Point is - its endless consumption.  Eating 2-3x hunger food was just more consumption too.  It does not reduce over time, you will always have this upkeep.  Might as well pick Wigfrid and have quick start without upkeep or setup, or play Wanda and have some setup, no upkeep.  Why would anyone want to play with both setup AND upkeep?  For damage mod that several other characters can produce easier?

Constantly stopping to waste time in gym or with dumbbell, burning extra food / purple gems endlessly, why bother with that at all?  Seems really foolish.  Just play Wigfrid or Wanda.  Both have much better kits.

im not judging that, just saying that eating gembells each 11 days is unrealistic

That is their words, not mine.  If they say they burn 2 gembells every 22 days that is their words.  I can only assume they aren't lying.

After playing new Wolfgang for only maybe 20 hours I can see he is a BIG time waste and resource waste.  If you want a combat character take Wigfrid for early game / team play, or Wanda for mid / late and teleports.  No reason to be Wolfgang ever.

One purple gem, 2 cut stone and 2 twigs the upkeep is dirt cheap. What do you use purple gems for may i ask? One for shadow manipulator, two for nightmare amulet for fw?...... a bat bat??? Ruin rushing you end up with 10+ easy.

yes but he seems to be talking about the raw time not the real gamplay duration of them

teleport goats to protect herd, teleport bearger to and from for farming, teleport myself around b/c wormholes aren't always perfect.

Late game you can get all the purple gem you want, but by then literally why play Wolfgang over Wanda?  She has all of his damage, but with teleports.  Literally better than him in every way considering you can use bosses to harvest resources.  His work time doesn't matter at that point, and his boat travel perks are 100% superfluous.

Sure sure, always the whataboutism, having that kind of upkeep is a tax on time, whether you're stopping for a gym and eating, or burning purple gems on the move.  Its a tax that is not justified by his perks at all.  Woflgang went from a top tier character with Wanda, to pretty trash outclassed by both Wanda and Wigfrid in whatever way you wanna play, early or late.

Literally take whatever you think you're doing so awesome on Wolfgang and swap out Wigfrid or Wanda, you'll do better.

idk, why did you reply to me?  You think I didn't know about gym?  I literally mention both gym and dumbbell in that post.  They are both a tax on time, tether you to structures, require more structures built, as well as burn purple gems for when you aren't near structure.  However you play it, it sucks.  They FAR overvalue 2x damage, its not good compared to the set up and tax on time and resources.

Klei isn't adding anything to make it better, tweaking dumbbell durability, reducing drain for playing active, or any other suggestions that might make it better.  They said they're done with it.  If you don't like how it is now, then why defend it?

You don't have to leave forums or try to spread guilt around, just don't try to defend something you admit isn't great.

Teleporting bearger seems needlessly time consuming, switch to wurt make a few merm houses close to your tree farm, bundle a few clever disguises, boom awesome minions for tree chopping and marble scrub mining for all characters that you can have close enough to base without worrying about them stomping it. So much better than bearger for late game mega basing

Have you tried taming a rider beefalo with speedy saddle? You move so fast it makes wanda's rift watch look slow .

Wanda using the one weapon all the time gets boring, atleast wolfgang can use morning star, shield of terror, thulecite club all far better, makes for more interesting fights at all stages of the game by engaging with the different mechanics these weapons bring. Even the 3 tail whip is only effective enough to actually use with wolfgang for farming spiders with (2hit kill with high deaggro rate).

im not leaving and im not defending anything, im just tired of reading comments from both sides hiding info, overexaggerating, creating dumb scenarios, etc just to be right instead of being critic and try to find the better solution

They said they burn 2 purple gem every 22 days, I'm not changing that from their post.  They even named the 22 days with relation to dfly spawn timers, so I don't think they were making some abstract statement about total game time, but rather a literal 22 days burning gembells and not using gyms.  Either way my response stands, its a waste - because whether gym+ food or purple gems, its a constant, never ending tax on time and resources.  Am I to add setup and fight with dfly on top of all that?  Its their calculation, not mine.  This person is pretty obvious troll though, I'm not gonna waste time there.

I'm not exaggerating anything - literally pick Wigfrid if you want to do something early, and she'll do it quicker than Wolfgang.  If you get to the point where you will have done setup (late autumn probably?) than pick Wanda and she'll outstrip Wolfgang instead.  He doesn't win either way now, and that is not exaggeration.

Sadly there is no "find better solution."  We tried that from open beta and even in these threads a lot of good, even handed suggestions were made.  Klei has said they aren't doing anything like that though, so its just Wolfgang as he is now.  No "Its good if they just..." sry

I rather give Wanda 2 purple gem to take me and bring me from a location than give it to Wolfgang so his head can grow twice the size.

I rather give my purple gems to Wormwood so he can craft bat bats to make his life easier than give it to Wolfgang so he can wear a piggyback while I wear mine on my beefalo.

I RATHER feed a lure plant my purple gems than have Wolfgang pumping in a corner from 0 (because Wimpy is default Wolf at this point) to full meter and be done when the boss has already melted.

Love or hate aside, I don't understand why people only use gembells. Like, of course you run out of durability quickly when you use a gembell from 0 might. Golden dumbbells are cheaper and just as good, just not for mighty form. 

Golden to get from wimpy to mighty, then gembell for mighty only; you'll save a lot of durability in the long-run.

I don't mind standing still and taking time to get mighty if there was reliable ways of staying mighty once you are there that doesn't require you to stand still. The whole appeal of more damage is to take less time in fights, so needing to stand still for awhile to get big counteracts that and there is no way to increase it mid fight without running away and lifting weights for a bit.

This rework made me think that Wolfgang took a step in the direction of pre-reworked Woodie. Obviously not as bad as Woodie was, but much like him, Wolfgang currently has an upside that almost works against itself.

Wolfgang has resource cost and time cost to use his items. Now if we compare how Wanda is completely different when it comes to her age meter, she just lets herself age up/get hit and stay old to maintain it, doesn't make much sense for Wolfgang to have to permanently maintain his Might meter by constantly consuming so much time.

I don't see how some players can still think that he is completely fine and wasn't nerfed too much that even Wigfrid is going to kill bosses faster.
