Dear Klei, it's sad to see a good character like Wolfgang (most likely) leave the Constant

Gonna keep this one short. I believe I said everything I could in my own posts and in my responses to others, and I wish everyone who enjoys playing the new Wolfgang best of fun in their future survivals.

The past couple of days have been upsetting to me because the refresh basically removed an old character that I enjoyed so much and replaced it with a new one. I do feel a little let down, because Klei has always stayed loyal to the characters while introducing their refreshes, and I expected the same loyalty for Wolfgang.

If anyone from Klei is reading this, I still want to thank you for all the hard work and for releasing the beta for public access. The new Wolfgang is also a good character, but him being someone almost completely different from his former self makes me feel like the Constant is forced to part ways with the old Wolfgang. No additional perks can sadly change that, but that being said, if I and many other players are able to show so much love for this character, it is also your doing Klei, I wanted to thank you a thousand times for that too.

Still, I think some of us, especially those who have been so active on the forums during the last couple of days, would hugely appreciate knowing the reasoning behind your decisions for this character refresh, after you release it of course. In the end, we will always respect your decisions, but I believe that we deserve to know a little bit more than what we know right now.

I'd rather Wolfgang lost his speed and stayed the mightiest.  We should get Wheeler for super speed stuffs.

BUT I feel you.  As with any franchise reboot (we see a lot of them these days) we always hope they stay as true as they can for their og fans.  I've seen character refreshes before through league of legends, and while they usually stay good sometimes we have to see certain mechanics go for the health of the game :\ 

I think at this point we gotta make peace with speed being removed.  For speed runners, while this means existing records will be unbeatable it also just means you notate that, and start new records for this rework going forward.  Everyone is still on equal footing, and speed runs will still be a thing.  It just means Wolfgang might not always be the best choice (although he probably still will be.)

God don’t I feel this lol playing games like Smite, Apex Legends, or Rogue Company the characters are always undergoing tweaks, nerfs, buffs and changes.. to the point that you should never get used to how they feel because they’re subject to change.

I WAS a Wraith Main in Apex Legends I say WAS because for 10 consecutive seasons they continued to Nerf her because Non-Wraith mains cried “Wraith OP plz nerf!” Then later cried “Wraith still OP plz further nerf!” NOW she’s a former shell of what she used to be and other legends do everything she USED to do but better: namely- Octane, Valkyrie and Ash.

I use Apex Legends as my example because my favorite character in that game has been hit with 10 consecutive seasons of nerfs, so I do deeply sympathize with the Wolfgang mains who are feeling a little left out in the cold in the middle of winter with their favorite character gutted for the holidays.. but sometimes- we have to accept those changes the very least we can hope for is for the developers to give us insight as to WHY they changed them.

But sometimes.. we don’t even get that much, and if people truly felt Wraith was OP then Nerfing her so those people complaining continued to play was the only logical choice for the developers: It Sucks.. and comparing THAT to this Wolfgang rework is probably a terrible example but it’s the best example I have and It always hurts when our favorite stuff gets changed/modified but we either adapt to those changes or move on..

In Wraiths case in particular if you pick her you pick her knowing she’s had 10 consecutive nerfs and your really just handicapping yourself to prove a point in picking her still, as for me.. I Personally moved on to Ash because she has the same ability I loved wraith for but BETTER.

Hopefully people who loved Wolfgang for his SPEED will be able to find another character, craftable or food item that satisfies their thirst for Speed. :wilson_love:

I'll miss the dynamic might which made Wolfgang so fun and unique. I'll miss the danger of eating or transforming while being chased by monsters, and yes I'll miss the speed too.

New flat might meter feels dull in comparison, and the longer duration removed that tension and danger.

Maybe give it a dynamic bunny meter of some sort that you'd maintain by eating carrots... :)

That wouldn’t solve my problem of not being able to keep up with my friend- Consider Wanda: She’s good because she literally has a TEAM Portal, but a speedy go fast character would be problematic in Co-op play: like I want to run together and do things with my friends as a group close together, the Boat Cookie is a moving Platform capable of supporting all 6 players in comparison: Giving Wolfgang faster Rowing here allows him to move the entire TEAM at that speed, where as: His built in Walking Cane that stacked with other Speed bonuses did not.

For a new “Speedy Character” to be added: I would want them to either have a downside so they can’t be speedy 24/7 (like maybe a Stamina Meter so that the more it drains the slower they move and they need to slow down for a few seconds to bring stamina back up (Ark Survival Evolved, State of Decay 2) That way I have time to catch up to them and actually play the game with them: rather then them zooming around the map doing everything.

Consider Woodie: He can go fast but he can’t pick up anything or fight anything while going fast so best he can do is warn me of dangers coming up ahead.

For a fast Bunny character: he would need some sort of impactful downside that lets us play together, I want to run together in a group rather then being left behind in the dust.

I would even advocate to allow Woby and Beefalo hold 2 players on a new type of craftable saddle.

When Dont Starve became a multiplayer game: Single player playstyles needed to go- the character can still be perfectly playable alone (just like I can ride around on my horse in Red Dead Online alone.. but if I have a friend with a slower horse that’s tagging along behind my superior one.. he can climb on my horse and not be left behind in my horses dust trail)

TL:DR- I agree for a speed character or a speed food item, as long as the speed can apply to everyone.. such as adding Wagstaff to the game as an official playable character and giving him a new gadget that allows him to craft boots of great Agility and the whole team can go fast.. give Winona a Craftable mechanical Clockwork Contraption that she and her teammates can sit on top of to “Go Fast” 

Add CHARLIE as a playable Character and let everyone ride around on top of End Tables.

Whatever it is… let me cruise around in a pact.

I find it hilarious/sad that the character named WolfGANG is the character that is designed not to work well with a Gang.
