Infinite loyalty timer of merm and pigman

Hey guys, I recently learned from a friend of mine a way to make the loyalty timer of merm and pigman infinite. It seems to newly show up since the refresh of Webber. I don’t know if there is someone who hava posted this before, if so I would be very sorry for my recklessness.

 

Here we go.

First of all, we need to feed a pig or a merm. Take a pig for example.After feeding it a piece of meat, I become its leader and there is a loyalty timer. Once the timer reaches 0, it will be free.

Then we down to the cave and return to the ground, we will find that its loyalty timer has disappeared, but I remain its leader. Congratulations, we now get a follower whose loyalty timer is infinite. As long as you don't take the initiative to feed it anything in the future, it will follow you forever.

Test the effect: after moving forward for 5 days, we will find that I remain its leader.

There are no difficulties in this process. The main thing is to ensure not to feed anything when this state has taken effect. Otherwise, it will be out of that state, but eat by its own will not affect this state.

 

Merm the same:

When i first fed, there will be a loyalty timer.

After 5 days, the merm did not lose loyalty.

Remember: you can't feed anything, but it doesn't matter if the merm eat by its own.

 

i dont know if this Is a bug or just “working as intended”.  And if this being a mechanic that is allowed to exist. Wurt could be very strong in the early days of the game.Thanks for watching this post and wish you all have a perfect army of merm in the first 10 days!

I swear if after so much time wurt related bugs have not been fixed and then this is the one they fix I will be fuming

And it's such a good bug for Wurt. I was sort of getting tired of forgetting to feed my merms, only to have them full on charge one of my friends and kill them. :wilson_curious:

I would certainly appreciate a base game follower meter to show how long loyalties will last. (Wouldn't apply to Webber since his are permanent now.)

Now that this was brought to light to everyone, I guess we can talk about it. Many of us were aware of this since the webber update happened.

This was hands down the BEST thing that happened to Wurt since release, sadly the fact that it is now brought into the dev's attention I fear it may soon be patched. This is the main reason we didn't talk about it.

To me, this "bug" made Wurt fun and interesting again. There were many things that have been proposed for Wurt, like that giving fish to merms makes them permanent, or stuff like that. I wouldn't mind a replacement, but I think it will be very very unfair to see this gone for good and not getting anything else to compensate

Best case scenario, this stays as it is....

I’m pretty sure this is a bug, I hope it gets patched soon, this is incredibly broken.

It would make sense if you had to keep feeding your followers or give them gifts, but with no upkeep at all- Wurt can have an entire army with as little as SEEDS DROPPED BY RANDOM BIRDS…

If you don’t see that as broken in a quote “Uncompromising Wilderness Survival Game” I don’t know what ever will be considered Broken to You.

I don't mind the resource cost of maintaining followers, especially not for Wurt, but I do wish there was some way to refresh their timer without having to continually feed them yourself manually. 

For example: a wearable food rack. Basically a backpack with 6 slots for general use and 2 slots for hanging food. Anything hung on it becomes free game for pigs and merms to eat to top up their loyalty timers.

Can we please get some fixes to other of her already existent bugs then? Like followers getting trapped in random places? Or merms not returning home in some situations? Or improve their AI so that they attack whatever attacks Wurt?

To be honest these bugs exist since Wurt was released and have never been adressed. This bug felt like a bless for her and its being hotfixed sooner than this already existing bugs.

Our merm lady has always been in a weird spot with many mechanics feeling clunky sand buggy. Obviously this was not the fix for any of that, but it made playing Wurt a more enjoyable experience

There are millions of threads about Wurt's bugs and QOL ideas, hope those are also taken into consideration just like this post was.

I agree. I for one, would love a "Contract" system that bonds followers indefinitely (not cheap per say, but still); and if not for normal pigs and whatnot then at least for Wurt when it comes to merms.

Or maybe merms could stay loyal as long as merm king is alive… that would give us a purpose to actually feed it and not let it starve to death until another merm sits on the carpet.
