Enriched uranium is not as useful as nuclear waste?

Recommended Posts

enriched uranium is used to generate copious amounts of power mostly, as well as that nuclear waste and in much higher quantity compared to just launching a radbolt engine over and over

bare in mind that enriched uranium also can be used to power many, many radbolt generators as well while it generates nuclear waste

hell, it might not even be profitable without shine bugs or some other way to jumpstart production to launch radbolt engines over and over now that it would cost 2 tiles worth of fuel to do such a thing.

Yeah. Nuclear waste is too powerful for radiation generation; and you only need radbolts really. Rest is optional.

I would rather enriched uranium be useful for something; other than research reactor. It would be great if instead of radbolt engine we got a nuclear rocket that needs enriched uranium as fuel.

That would strip the usefulness of radbolts, and they need that too. But I get your point, more applications for uranium would be nice. Maybe as critter food/plant fertilizer?

You mean nuclear waste from nuclear reactor? I tried to get nuclear waste by colliding radbolts, but radiation contaminants in it was decaying too quickly.

Nuclear waste emits rads on it's own (without the contamination germs) and is pretty easy to produce. (Radbolt engines) You can infinitely compress it; and generate a lot of radbolts.

The game design is disgusting.

There definitely is a problem with the radiation system. I made a thread about it before. In short radiation should be a nuisance in low amounts and a danger in medium amounts, finally getting useful in high amounts. Instead it gets useful even in low amounts, long before it gets even a nuisance to deal with. This leads to people getting more use out of radioactive waste than actual enriched uranium. The new glowstick dupe trait causing more radioactive exposure than all other sources in the game should be a warning flag that someting is wrong.

At this point it`s not an easy fix either. Radiation is needed for some essential research so can`t be gated behind the reactor and the reactor itself is too big and clunky for most uses. Nuclear waste is much easier to use as a portable radiation source that we currently lack outside the wheezewort.

IMO we`d need to have the radioactive stuff produce much more radiation at a much longer range so containing it gets more important and uncontained can actually hurt. Then we could use a side product of the reactor (plutonium?) that produces a ton of radiaiton but slowly dissolves into nuclear waste in the process. The reactor would produce small amount of that and you could put it around in storage boxes to have a radiation source easily movable.

I would swap the space and radiation research requirements tbh, so space was first and the highest tier needed material science with rad bolts.

It makes sense as uranium is on the first planet from space, not the base planet.  wheezeworts making radiation is probably a mistake too?

This allows rebalancing the radiation to be interesting as you say.

I 100% believe it is.  Wheezeworts were already incredibly useful for their spot-cooling.  Now they're producing radiation (at very safe levels) on top of that.  That's too much utility packed into a single plant.

The radiation was intended to be a nerf to wheezeworts I believe; making them harmful to deal with amassed; but they accidentally made it in to the best resource in the game. Further indication that the radiation subsystem is incomplete. They did a lot of sweeping changes very close to the release of the game; i'm hoping something similar will happen with radiation.

I believe there is a special animation for wheezewort radiation that was datamined (i`m not sure why it isn`t used) so it seems like it was intended.

I had once asked if wheezeworts were still "exotic" at some point last year... I guess Klei decided to make them rad. Pun intended, "downvote" as much as you will.

I rad read. Then I imagined that the Wheezie`s now perform some exotic dance or so in the game. Then I sadly was disappointed, as it seems there is no dancing cacti cactus in the game. I often enjoy reading exotic forum comments, they leave room for imagination.

Additional thinking made me realize that the Wheezie had always been a "Cactus" for me, from the beginning of humans the game.

they to had dancing  bluff briar at older version but they remove that for some reason. i not know if cactus was dance as well or if it even exists at older version

anyway if would animate it probaply is another source what drags your game performance down.
