Whats is Terrestrial Artifacts?

I found many artifacts, like Office Mug, Percolator,Strange Brick, but in Cosmic Archaeology initiative i have 0/10 Terrestrial artifacts and 12/10 Space Artifacts.
Where to find Terrestrial artifacts?

I wish i knew - all the artifacts I have ever recovered counted as space artifacts, whether they came from planetoids or space POIs.

In the current ONI DLC release, I have 4/10 terrestrial artifacts.  The issue is I got 4 from the fire planet alone, but it only counted it as 1.  Perhaps it is a bug that there were 4 there.  Also, the planet with the experiment 52 had 2 artifacts on 2 pedestals, but only counted as 1 for me.

Artifacts found on planetoids are supposedly terrestrial, the problem is: it does not (or did not) persist across saves and when you load the game, all terrestrial artifacts become normal ones (fixed in beta?).

What is the current state of this issue? Currently I have 2 terrestial and 12 space artifacts:

If I remember correctly, a VHS tape from a pedestal on lava asteroid and a stethoscope in a satellite were counted as terrestial artifacts. An encrusted teapot I found on the starting asteroid was not counted as terrestial. Two honey jars that I found on the floor on lava asteroid were not counted as terrestial either.

In the end, what artifacts are terrestial?

Is it based on its type? Whether it was on a planetoid? Whether it was specifically on a pedestal? Or maybe if it was from a satellite POI?

EDIT:

I gathered quite a bit of artifacts from starship POIs, but none counted as terrestial, so I'll assume that only artifacts on pedestals count... which is concerning seeing as my world generated with only 9 such pedestals. Assuming there is no code in place preventing duplicates of artifacts and each artifact is equally likely and there are 30 artifacts then the probability that success is even possible is:
9 or less pedestals - 0%
10 pedestals - ~19%
11 pedestals - ~48%
12 pedestals - ~72%
13 pedestals - ~86%
14 pedestals - ~93%
15 pedestals - ~97%
16 pedestals - ~99%
One might want to take this into consideration when planning a seed for an all-achievements run (keeping in mind that even with the same seed, different artifacts generate each time).

There was a bugfix in a patch a while back which said that 10 terrestrial artifacts should be guaranteed.

From the patch 488341 change notes:

Quote

Worldgen:

  • Reserved 10 artifacts as Terrestrial only to ensure the Cosmic Archaeology achievement can be completed.

If your game was generated using this version or later, it should always be possible to obtain ten of them. If the game was generated before that then there might not be enough.

Thank you for the info about the patch, @Yobbo. My save file was generated around the beginning of November, which is why I didn't have such luck. I guess it's time for one, final attempt, in an even better seed now that I know what geysers are not needed, and what space POI/geysers give substantial QoL.

I'm still not sure if that means that this achievement is always possible, i.e., if these 10 artifacts are guaranteed to be unique, but that's something I can somewhat test.

Ohh no... I was really aiming to get all SO achievements in one run. Now it looks like it will be impossible for me as well. :blue:

I found 2 so far. They are near Experiment 52B but I do not believe there will be much more.

I haven't tested it, but, as a last resort, it might be possible to save your run using this mod:

Probably won't work if you analyzed over 20 artifacts, though.

In the game code, they're all called SpaceArtifacts, but only some of them are "Terrestrial" artifacts. It looks like those ones:

  • Spawn/worldgen on an asteroid that you can land on, not on any of the space POIs, and
  • Spawn on a Gravitas Pedestal

In the last game I played, there were exactly 10 in the world, spread out across all of the landable asteroids, so I was able to get the achievement. Some of them you may need to dig before you can find them -- the one on the tundra world was all the way down by the core.

The game will keep generating an unlimited number of non-Terrestrial artifacts in the space POIs.

After searching for every single tile, and every single planet in the known universe, I've got all 33 artifacts. But only 9/10 count as terrestrian artifacts =(

Am I suppose to start over on a different game praying it considers 10 terrestrian?

Same here bro.

I wonder if Klei would be so kind to fix our saves and add some terrestrial artefacts.
