Sadly it can't be done.

There's so many people who only played once during the beta wondering why they can't delete the Bottomless Pit, so I don't think they're even able to be deleted let alone traded. (Those topics must be painful for people who didn't get the pit but want it. x3)

Game has grown so much since then, i remember we didn't even have caves and it took a while for them to be added. At least we have bottomless firepit to show for it, supporting DST so early.

I remeber there was only 4 characters: Wilson, Willow, WX-78 and Wickerbottom.

Yeah, it really has grown so much. Back then it seemed like a sliced off multiplayer mode and now it's a definite sequel in it's own right.

I know people want to be able to earn the pit through the system that gives Twitch drops but I feel like for the beta stages at least it's not a bad thing to have a "you had to be there" skin.

that skin is an HONOR to have

I imagine the bulk of these people had Don't Starve and so got the beta to Together for free but weren't actually interested after playing once or twice.

To them it's just a lingering Steam inventory page they don't want.

Kind of like how I don't care about TF2 and wouldn't mind getting rid of the Mercenary badge I got from the one time I played.

That is super valid and I get it but it still hurts :') curse me for being too young, living on another continent and not having friends who would have told me about the game existence before 2019.

If it's any consolation all you really missed was a more rickety-looking player portal and a roster smaller than the vanilla single player game.

Still, this game could have been my childhood, but I just missed it for some lame reasons. Thankfully, it's not too late to enjoy it now :)

That's the spirit!

They're working hard and updating the game for a lot longer than I was really expecting going into things, and I'm sure they've got surprises for us they already know and are laughing about behind our backs.

You click it and when steam asks us what skins you own for DST we say "none". If you unclick it then they show up again.

I meant like on the coding side of it, how o you get steam to hide the dst inventory from the klei website

Something a lot of people don't realize is that steam doesn't store what items you have in your steam inventory. Or rather, they do but only for some games (like Valve games). Instead Steam asks us what you own and what images to use and all that stuff. It does have some caching so it doesn't need to ask every time you view your inventory, but it erases that cache every time you play the game (in case you got new skins).

See https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/inventory/economy for details.

So technically what we do when someone pushes that button is invalidate steam's cache of the user's inventory, then when steam next asks us what DST items the user owns (using GetContextContents) we say "None".

Make sense?

There any possibility that console players can get the beta skins at least & the Proof of Purchase skins for having bought Shipwrecked & Hamlet? Cause obviously there’s no way we will ever be able to play the beta.. And the Proof of Purchase skins still are not available- and I really want that pirate themed bird cage from having owned Shipwrecked.

You guys can check, but I’m pretty sure I’ve owned DST since the day it became available on Xbox, I don’t remember when I purchased the original DS.. but I know it was before DST, and I also purchased the add-on packs Shipwrecked & Hamlet.

(some people say there’s an Add-on called Reign of Giants but that one came with the Xbox version of the game as part of buying the game.)

I’d probably be willing to get them off the Klei Rewards page if I can’t get them by their original Method of obtainment. same goes for Metheus & Cyclum puzzle skins.

You know Metheus and Cyclum puzzles are available to console players and have been for quite some time, right?

Ownership based skins are complicated on console because the concept of ownership is complicated on console. I know most of our users have digital copies but the concept of games being little discs that you buy in a store is baked into consoles so deep that their APIs still revolve around it to a large extent, even with consoles that don't have disc drives anymore. Even where you can get ownership, it's just for the game you're playing right now, there's no way to get ownership on an "unrelated" game and sadly that's what DS is in console-land. That said every now and again I go back and look at changes to the ownership APIs, as does Charles, so maybe some day.

I think the proof of purchase skins work on xbox, pretty sure it's only playstation where we had to remove them from the game. Also there's a redemption box on the accounts page for those who don't want to type their codes in using a controller.

So how does trading on Steam work? :D

Also since you explained that you guys control inventory data, would you actually be able to help op by transferring his skins? There was an option on the Klei account page that mentioned account merging (but I think this was just for different platforms).

Steam says "Hey, I want to take this item and put it on the marketplace (on behalf of user X). Can you confirm it still belongs to user X?" and if it does we remove it from user X's inventory.

Later on it gets re-added, either to a new person's inventory or back to the original owner's if it was removed from sale. Details can be found on the website I linked above.
