Pinkamena11FazP
Now I always wondered what the DST Characters might sound like I've seen only one person fully do a possible list of clips of voices and huge snips of someone doing a full reading as the character and it's driving me crazy! I am DYING to know the others from pure curiosity! Anyways I don't got a lot of possible ideas but I clipped a song that makes me think of Mr.Skitts, the Shadow that tricked William. It's the one part of the Oogie Boogie song that starts after: "I'd might split a seam if I don't die laughing first!" BoysenSyrup
Wilson/Willow would sound like how they do in this video. Wolfgang would have a thick Russian accent. Wendy would sound like a little girl, but without the innocence. WX would sound like he does in-game, but actually speaking Wickerbottom would sound older then average, but not stereotypical old. Woodie would sound like a Canadian Maxwell would have a dapper con-man voice. Woodie is canadian. Wes. Wigfrid would have a pretty voice, because shes an actor. Probably on the younger sounding side. Webber would sound like a kid, but more spidery. Wortox would sound like an amalgam who reads out kids stories. Warly would have a more tropical/islandy sounding voice, since he is from a more tropical area. Wormwood would sound... pretty scary actually? Imagine a plant trying to talk like a human. Wurt would sound like a drowning person combined with a merm. Walter's voice wouldn't change. He just has a bugle stuck in his throat. For some reason the singing really startled me even though I knew they were going to have actual voices before I started the video, oof. I never thought too hard about how I thought the characters would sound, but Willow and Webber felt pretty Willow-y and Webber-y to me. Wilson didn't really sound like how I imagined in my head, though. Also, I could've sworn that I read that Wilson was canonically British somewhere? There's a good chance I'm just crazy or that whatever I saw was wrong, but I don't know. Pine G
The closest thing to what I imagine Ms Wickerbottom would sound like is singer/songwriter Leslie Fish's voice. Here's one of her songs as an example, but any would do: Spoiler https://youtu.be/gesWyABvT-c Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/121460-odd-ideas/#findComment-1368755 Share on other sites
cropo
Wilson would be completely deadpan, I imagine everything he says has no real tone behind it even if it has an exclamation mark at the end of it. ''I made that with my face'' when examining beard hair, picture the way he says that but with almost everything else he says, speaks very matter-of-factly and makes stupid puns without giggling or expecting them to be funny, says things sarcastically quite often. Willow, like, would totally like omigod talk like this with a totallllllll attitudeeee. Think of that preppy girl accent you find in those high school dramas, very exaggerated. Wolfgang would have that stereotypical ''russian sounding'' accent. WX would sound literally like a robot, not much else to say. ''STUPID PLANT DROPS WEAPONS THAT HURT IT'' Wendy would sound like a typical preteen going through her ''I'm 14 and this is deep'' phase For Wickerbottom, if you've ever seen ''MY life as a teenage robot'', the robot girls creator or mother, is what I picture her voice sounding like. Wigfrids voice I imagine to sound like Numbuh 86 from the Kids Next Door cartoon, possibly a little deeper and meaty. Warly has that stereotypical french accent, the deep and masculine type. Wilbur is kind of hard to pinpoint but I would imagine he sounds like a Monkey. Woodlegs is the voice that goes ''ARE YOU READY KIDS?'' in the beginning of the spongebob intro. Walani is a bit too hard to pin down, not sure about her. It's hard to explain Wilba, but I imagine her voice has a very chubby deepness to it. Winona has a completely normal voice, with no interesting examples to give to showcase that. Wheeler sounds like the old Laura Croft(not the reboot one). From Tomb Raider 2 and 3, although a lot of them would fit honestly. Wurt would sound like one of those Gurgling things from the Rick and Morty episode where they go into the Spa and detox their evil sides. Only more childish. Walter sounds like a little kid. In my dreams, Wormwood would have that stereotypical Jamaican accent, but I would imagine he sounds like Glommers Buzzing if it was made into an actual speakable language. Webber sounds like a little kid. Wagstaff sounds like an old man, who was once a little kid but grew up to the point where he can no longer eat regularly. CameoAppearance
7 hours ago, mac and cheese said: Also, I could've sworn that I read that Wilson was canonically British somewhere? There's a good chance I'm just crazy or that whatever I saw was wrong, but I don't know. I think what you're thinking of is an old dev quote saying that his Gentleman Scientist thing was meant to evoke a "Proper English Gent" sort of personality (which I may be mangling with my paraphrase, as it's been a while since I saw the post, but the words "Proper English Gent" were definitely in there with the quotes and all). So to me that seems like he could either be an actual Brit or he could be from somewhere else and have a British-influenced character design. I haven't managed to find actors/voice actors who match the way Wilson and Willow sound in my head (except Victorian Willow, who sounds exactly like Tracer from Overwatch to me for some reason; I don't know if the voice actress for Tracer has done any roles with an American accent), but Maxwell sounds like every 1950s TV/radio interviewer or newscaster guy ever in my head - which is an affectation, since Maxwell actually is canonically English, but he's been doing that voice for so long that it comes naturally now - and Warly sounds like Baptiste from Overwatch, Wolfgang sounds like this one fan voice actor as Viktor Vasko from Lackadaisy, and WX sounds like the Cybermen from the Doctor Who relaunch but with more of an American accent. (They have more in common with Daleks and one of their combat lines is a shout-out, but the Dalek voice is too high-pitched.) While I have a very clear idea of what Woodie would sound like, I'm not familiar with any actual actors who have both the deep voice and the thick backwoods Canadian accent I'm looking for, but being a Canadian myself I don't have to look far to run into real-life people who sound like my idea of Woodie's voice. Similarly, I'm not sure exactly what the pitch of Wormwood's voice should be like but having a didgeridoo as his instrument makes me absolutely certain that he should have an Australian accent. No, it was definitely the "Proper English Gent" thing CameoAppearance was talking about; I remember reading it off the wiki before I learned about the William Carter puzzles. Thanks for the suggestion, though! (Here's the quote in case anyone wants to see it.) Pinkamena11FazP
Oddly why do I feel like Wormwood would have this gruff raspy voice like the male twin that I can't remember the name of from Rugrats. It'd be like a Sim suddenly turning around and speaking perfect English to you! Or perfect (whatever language you've got the game installed in). I don't even allow normal plain language MUSIC in those games. If I put in custom music, it's foreign-language and instrumentals only. (They end up listening to a lot of anime soundtracks... : P) ANyway, if I _had_ to imagine them sounding like normal human voices....huh. That's an interesting question. I kind of think of Wendy as sounding like...Daria? Only younger? Or a similarly more little-kid version of Cassandra from "Hercules: The Animated Series". Willow is kinda sassy, and oddly enough has a higher voice than Wendy (instrument-wise). I can see her as sounding...bright and sarcastic? Not sure who her voice actor would be. I kinda want to say Tara Strong, just because she's in, like, everything. XD Wigfrid is like VIKING WARRIOR! She YELLS EVERYTHING! TONIGHT, WE DINE...AT BASE CAMP! I dunno who would play her, just that they'd have to have VERY GOOD LUNG CONTROL! And Maxwell would indeed be some form of British. Kinda slick and sleazy tone as his King self, then getting more desperate, and then more like a British dork in Together, as a survivor like everyone else. Charlie would go the _opposite_ way--starting from innocent-dragged-into-this and then a more confident, commanding Queenly voice. Wilson is supposed to be from New England (NOT the same thing as England; it means more or less the northeastern part of the U.S.) so he'd have an accent from there. Maybe Massachusetts...? I don't quite see him as a Nyew Yawkah or from Joisey. And of course Woodie would be Canadian, but _which_ variation we don't know. In addition to the house/hoase/hoose thing getting more extreme as you go one direction (I forget which), there's also Newfoundland, which is HOLY CRAP HOW IS THIS THE SAME COUNTRY. But British Columbia was mentioned at one point, so maybe he's from there...? ...Notorious Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/121460-odd-ideas/#findComment-1369011 Share on other sites

But British Columbia was mentioned at one point, so maybe he's from there...? Woodie probably was living in BC at the time he was taken to the Constant, because there was a lot of logging work available here a century ago and Walter, who tracked down Woodie's cabin based on local legends while being too young to drive or move out and therefore probably lives in the area, mentions a cousin on the East Coast, i.e. he doesn't live in that part of the country. That doesn't necessarily mean he grew up in BC though; he's also apparently spent some time in Toronto, based on his quote for trying to put something in a full container. Also, Newfoundland wasn't part of Canada in the 1920s! It was a separate British dominion with its own government until 1934.
