The only other thing I'm struggling with is a food source. Monster meat/eggs is enough to live by, but I don't know what the best method is to stock up on Pierogi's for in combat healing

If you play wendy, you can get lots of monster meat from spiders

Plant some kelp near your base and you're set. If you need more you can also relocate the stonefruit bushes.

I'm currently transitioning from "Surviving perpetually & Exploring the world" to "Taking on the constant." I want to continue playing as Wendy, as I find her more enjoyable then most of the rest of the cast (willow, wigfrid, wortox and woodie are fun too, but I want to stick with Wendy). I'm aware that taming Beefalo is the best way of turning Wendy from a weak boss combat unit to a pretty strong one, but I'm unsure if it's worth the effort.

So, my question is, how intensive is it to properly tame a beefalo, how difficult is it to get an Ornery beefalo compared to the other types, and what else should I know before trying to tame one? Any advice in general would be appreciated.

You can locate a snurtle mound and atract one them hold ctrl+f til it die, doing this two times must be enought to get you a ornery beefalo nature if you are busy with other tasks, but i recomend do that latter in the domestication timer because if you do too early and ride it a lot it might become a ridder one.

I'm shocked Kelp is considered a vegetable. I could've sworn it'd be considered a filler like berries. Good to know.

I'll keep that in mind.

Does anyone have tips for farming bee-queen when you are a shadow-aligned willow. My spawn map had almost no marble so I'm still slowly growing marble to make 3 marble suits before I go. I was going to use the void cowl + void reaper + 3 marbles, 2 bernies, 3 tall scotch eggs.

Edit: I ended up trying instead 4 night armors, 30 pieroggis, void cowl + void reaper and I ran out of armor before using even half of my healing items. I think I got her to the last phase but it was hard o.o. It's a pain in the ass to mine marble imo. Forests take a while to cultivate. I was thinking I probably have a better chance trying out 2 dreadstone helms + 2 marble suits and a dark sword or a hambat.

I will try this out immediately. I haven't payed attention yet, if I have accidently been "distracted" by a different action and this having been the result for the boomerang death, but I will see now. Thanks for the detail.

(I just tried and when boomerang is flying character neither picks up stuff that is scattered around him neither paying attention to the boomerang)

So the end result is (modded AND standard) Maxwell (or Wilson) died by boomerang.

Maybe it has to do with some of the mods I use. I heard sometimes mods can cause issues even by just sitting inside the mods folder without being activated (I tried in modded and unmodded world with the same result). (maybe I will try in the single player game next time since I always play singleplayer DS without any mods and see if the boomerang works for me there) . I suppose it's a small downside that I can live with in my DST game in exchange for being able to play with mods.

---------

SO I GET IT! Seems the issue is definitely mods-folder related no matter if mods are activated or not. Wilson in singleplayer Don't starve now can catch the boomerang perfectly with your holding-space instruction. Thanks for the help, now I can at least use the boomerang in the singleplayer game ^^

did u hold space till u catch boomerang ? cus u need to do it that way .. hold space bar when the boomerang fly back till it got back to ur hand
when u hold space bar the character will have animation where they held out their hand waiting for boomerang to come back..

Tried again to see if the character will do the "waiting for boomerang animation" and turns out the character has no interest in reaching out their hand to catch the boomerang, no matter which character is used or whether mods are just sitting in my mods folder inactive or activated in a world. (obviously trying with fresh world for modded and unmodded in each try)

But in single player game that has no mods sitting in the mods folder at all, Wilson does the catching. Looks like some funny mods-are-behaving-unexpected-error again. ^^

my willow run was a long time ago but this is what i remember: (also look up willow combustion vs BQ or something on youtube, theres vids on this iirc)

I definitely used bernie for the first phase to distract the grumbles. Might have used it for the second phase too but im not sure. Once the stages advance bernie becomes a detriment iirc because u cant easily gather the grumbles around u to light them on fire and he wont be able to aggro all the bees once BQ sends them after u iirc. I used two bernies, dropping the spare after the first one broke.

Vs BQ combustion+ burn time is ur biggest asset. The burn will make the grumble bees panic which lets u attack BQ undisturbed. use this from the 2nd/3rd phase onwards when bernie becomes ineffective/is dead. Grumbles dying resupplies embers but u should start the fight with quiet a lot of embers.

I think i started with 80 embers. Theyre easy to get anyway so its better to start with too much than too little. I also used burning frenzy throughout and sometimes the shadow spell. (This was before the shadow spell was buffed)

for equipment i used dark swords, beekeeper hats and night armor since i hadnt opened any rifts yet. Bernie will also distract nightmares when the armor makes u insane so dont worry too much about sanity food.

overall i remember it being a really fun fight and not too hard.

Appreciate the tips. I think I just am awful versus beequeen (I play on the Switch). I tried 5-6 times but couldn't pull it off. I find her harder than AFW or CC. I would rather face either as Wes. I had 3-4 stacks of embers but really didn't do much. The furthest I got was with 4 night armors and 2 dreadstone helms. I think maybe Bernie did get in the way in the end. Next time I might just switch to blue flame Willow + frenzy but from now on I'm probably avoiding BQ in my Willow runs or maybe just do some cheese like Twins vs BQ. I think it's so easy to kill mobs with Willow you can literally just stay at a frog pond for a day and make 40 pierrogis from it or go to a spider mine field and make a bunch of healing salves. I'm also going to start using batbats way more (I mean Wormwood is my other main so I use it a lot already).

Do you just need help, or are you specifically trying to farm BQ with Willow? I can help on Switch as long as the connection is alright.

How is lag compensation on public servers? I never play online because of the lag, but I heard it was updated a long time ago. Can I reliably kite and otherwise play normally with it turned on, or will I be getting "phantom hits" and such trying to dodge?

What's the least painful way to get Azure & Jet feathers? I need a lot of them to make Wigfrid's crafts but they're painfully annoying to get by setting traps, hoping to catch the right bird and hoping to get a feather.

Also, side note, thanks for the advice on Beefalo, it's been a lot of help.
