Sooo... is wiki safew now?

Recommended Posts

Not sure, but you really should be using an ad blocker for browsing.

It costs you more in CPU power alone to run any of those advertisement scripts than what the owner gets back for your view.

Then there's the obvious "don't download things that weren't initialized by you, and don't install anything that isn't what you were trying to get".

The wiki itself is safe. The ads on it aren't. I use ublock origin (and it's the only one I can really recommend in good faith) and it does the job really well.

I guess my point is, @CarlZalph is correct and also cool and you should listen to a cool kid like him.

Legit I just keep JavaScript and Flash Player disabled most of the time when browsing anywhere. Makes some sites think that I have an adblocker because their ad service can't automatically kick the door down and do spooky stuff with my computer, but it keeps things really safe. You'd be surprised at how rarely those extensions are actually necessary for site functionality.

Learned my lesson regarding that from the DeviantArt ad hack eons ago.
