Next Update - 5 weeks ????

Recommended Posts

This is a great opportunity to point out that Klei's regular, frequent updates are really quite exceptional. I don't think I've seen another game company with scheduled updates, let alone updates every 8 weeks. Typically a developer will release updates as they happen, on a highly irregular basis.

The Factorio team is pretty good at frequent updates, but they don't keep to a schedule, and the vast majority of their updates are straight bug fixes. Bug fixes are good - fixing what's already implemented should always have priority over implementing new features - but it's still true that most of their updates don't include new features.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Sims series comes to mind. The Sims has always been a huge cash cow for EA, so the team was not hurting for budget money, but some game-breaking bugs would go unfixed pretty much forever, and new features only came out in paid expansions.

EA and his ****ty SIMCITY ,  was beaten by a small one called Colossal Order , a 10 crew ( at start ) making Cities Skyline.

5 weeks until next update ? why so long ?

In fact,

Preview version : march, 28th on the Steam's beta branch around 10 pm (Vancouver time)

Release version : april, 11th

The display on the game homepage is only announce the release version not the 3 weeks of the beta test, so 5-3 = 2 weeks. :)

Well, with big content upgrades no longer happening so often, they've decided to increase the time for upgrades from every 6 weeks to every 8 weeks, with previews 3 weeks before launch from the previous 2.

Well, Introversion Software did something very similar with Prison Architect. But you are right. Klei is very reliable and provides good quality!
