Tips for finite chlorine?

To get some bleach stone, I suppose. The only one reasonable way of using chlorine infinitely I know.

Chlorine/bleach stone is finite (you can´t get more from outer space)

But chlorine does it´s job at any pressure, so a sealed room with just some mg per tile will do it ;)

Good to know: A 11x11 room with conveyor rails on any tile is able to desinfect anything

(1g of chlorine is more than enough to fill such a room that is able to desinfect anything passing thru it)

Did some testing with germ counts higher than the debug tool is able to spawn ...

Hi all,

I've searched almost my entire map, but there seems to be no chlorine geyser on it. I want to know if there is any way to generate more chlorine than currently on the map? I don't like that my chlorine is finite at this moment..

Cheers!

Why do you need it to be infinite?

Sinks do their job just as well as hand sanitizing station so there's no real need for to worry about bleach down except and mid to early stages of the game when you're having to deal with slime lung.  and there's plenty of bleach Stone generator in the map to deal with that.

The only other reasons for generating chlorine is for ranching squeaky pufts or gassy moos, neither or which are worth the effort.

Also or scrubbers have been proven to be obsolete as well.

so back to my original question why do you want infint chlorine when there is no need for it?

Myabe he plans to ranch some gassy moos. That would be a chlorine sink requiring to renew the chlorine amounts eventually.

Well I have a lot of water that comes from poluted water, so its full of germs. I want to make a room which kills the germs easily by storing the water in tanks there until the germs are gone. Even though there is enough chlorine for now, its just knowing that there is an end to it which bugs me :\ I was hoping that there would always be some sort of way to get new chlorine, hense the question :)

Well then let us put your mind at ease.  As long as you are not careless and allow chlorine to vent into space, you will have more than enough chlorine to keep rooms filled for decontamination or balm lilly farming

Pufts is my answer for this reply. Chlorine as food is a source of infinite bleach stone.

Wrong, I thought. Sinks are much worse than sanstations: they need piping, less effective (remove less germs) and slower (dupe needs more time to use them instead of sanstations). Meh, I thought. But then I read

and must agree with you. Infected resources are dangerous until you automate its recycling. I missed the forest behind the trees.

I’ve got a chlorine geyser on my checklist. I’ll skip a map without it even though I never get to where I’m consuming it since I quit breeding squeaky puffs.

Are sneaky puffs producing more than they consume? I couldn't find the conversion rate between the chlorine they intake, and the chlorine you get from the bleach stone they put out?

Interesting. Until we get Gamma-Sterilizers (along with THE GADGET), this is the way to go.

Be careful about letting high learning dupes around the Gamma Sterilizer, there seem to be a lot of accidents that turn them big and green. ;)

Ok if chlorine is finite (without a chlorine geyser) and squeaky pufts are converting chlorine into bleach stone.

So without infinite food how could they produce infinite poo ?^^

That is only true if you have some sort of conveyor system in place to supply the bleach stone and squeky pufts will need at least a rancher grooming them, which should be a bigger time sink than the slower animation times.

(If your not using outhouses there is little benefit in beeing able to remove more germs than a sink could.)

I will/did never waste chlorine on slimelung. (Ore scrubber)

But since I am playing without any immunity regeneration, it´s more about keeping my duplicants away from germs using exo suits.

PS: @Gurgel I would love an "upgraded ore scrubber" using radiation to kill of germs ;)

Wrong, in fact you lose resources due to the 50% conversion rate

Only reason I use hand sanitizers is for when dupes handle raw slime.  Normally Slimelung covered dupes won't be an issue as it disappears once they use the bathroom but if they handle any algae or water bottles for my terrariums before their shift ends then that will cause problems

I never use ore scrubbers ether, I just store raw slime in a room with 1.8kg chlorine

can you elaborate? I never heard of those before

For a Gamma-Sterilizer, you basically move the stuff (medical equipment, food) to be sterilized around some hard Gamma sources like Cobalt-60, see here. e.g.: https://uw-food-irradiation.engr.wisc.edu/Process.html  Pretty nasty stuff, they will sterilize people as well if safety is lacking. I learned about them when reading about industrial accidents due to defective or insufficient safety mechanisms on some weekend.

I used them once to disinfect water bottles. Found them unreliable and tedious.

I was referring to ONI not RL

and given that the game is almost complete I wouldn't count on new content like radiation

there is a lot of content on the Alpha-source, doesn't mean they will be used

Radium seems to have complete art assets though. Other unused materials use placeholder art. Radium seems prety complete. It also was available on some planets during the rocketry preview. Still doesn`t mean they will add it but it`s more likely imo.
