QoL update won't be a true QoL update without mass disable disinfect

Recommended Posts

Honestly, this is one of the most requested QoL changes and only a few days away from its release it still isn't there. We already have a disinfect tool, devs would probably only have to add a check box for disabling auto disinfect.

If the full update does release without a way to disable disinfect on a large scale I'll be pretty disappointed, although this is the first QoL update.

Dude. This is QoL upgrade MARK ONE.

There's going to be loads more QoL upgrade from here on out. In fact, I think that's precisely what they're going to be working on in terms of upgrades.

And Coolthulu kinda does have a point. There's an auto disinfect threshold, it's a slider that you can change...just set it to 0 and you're golden. :wilson_goodjob:

this would be great. making it similar to the auto harvist option we have now would be a great way to present it.

I like to keep my base clean but outside my base I don't want to waste the time of disinfecting.

Autorepair off would be a lovely group thing too.  There are places I know are going to overheat and need to be deconstructed/rebuilt to remove the heat build up.  I don't want repairs there ever.  However, there's 40+ machines I need to recheck every time I knock a few down.

I'd really enjoy having a mass disable disinfect. It's such a waste of time to have you dupes disinfect anything outside of the base, but I'd still like them to clean the inside of my base automatically. Just having on and off isn't good enough and it's far too time consuming to turn off every tile or ladder outside the base individually. I also like the idea of it functioning like auto harvest on/off options.

Slimelung on surfaces doesn't affect anything. If you're getting food poisoning on surfaces you don't have properly set up sinks.

You can also just uncheck the box below the slider, bingo, auto disinfect disabled.

Except that was not the point of this.

Your advice is something like. Hmm there is a steep ledge over there I don't want to fall, we should build a fence. You suggest cutting legs off.

If we're going with analogies, then you should look into walking further away from that steep ledge.

I wasn't being sarcastic and I wasn't even thinking in an ironic tone when I wrote that.

The OP asked for a way to mass disable auto disinfect. There's a way to mass disable auto disinfect. The way it was written made me think he actually didn't know. And then, his reply to another person suggesting a similar thing as me, reinforced that: the OP didn't know he could turn off auto disinfect.

It seems the community wants something more specific, though: the ability to paint off auto disinfect. I understand that but I really didn't realize that's what we were talking about. These are two different things.

To the point of, is it viable: I completely disable auto disinfect in every single colony. It saves SO much dupe labor. Try it, it's actually a pretty simple thing to manage. Your dupes won't get sick if you manage their workflows a little. (so it's less like cutting legs off and more like leaving behind a large backpack full of stones)

A paint tool for painting off auto disinfect would be pretty cool, they should add it in! I wouldn't use it though, at all. Turning auto disinfect off completely is better.
