Chained Phoenix
So all my dups are insanely obsessed with raw meat... I've got much better food for them in refrigerators right next to their mess tables but they instead throw on a suit, run the entire length of the map to pick up some meat from some random wild creature which has died and come back to base to eat it... While a solution for this right now would be for me to get a food container to 9 priority and meat (so they aren't tired from missing sleep due to their late night meat run and it's instead collected during the day as a standard task) shouldn't there be some sort of priority on them eating the better food from the fridge instead? Is there anyway to set this that I've missed? Whenever it happens it raises their stress levels heaps as they are tired + bad food and if we had a mass extinction event somewhere and there is a lot of meat it can put everything on hold for a few days due to their obsession. I get it that the dups might be anti-vegan but isn't this taking it a bit far?
NonFat
dupes seem to prioritize things not in containers over things in containers atm.. simple solution is to disallow dupes from eating raw meat
Fantagreen
Try to check the 'Consumables' Tab on the top right of the screen. You might have set the Duplicants to eat only certain foods (in that case Raw Meat) or they're just prioritizing food on the ground. Be sure to contain Food Ingredients in containers, this may solve the problem.
Craigjw
I noticed dupes doing the meat run too, really quite annoying when there's several million calories in tastier food right next to them.
Sasza22
I always disable them from eating uncooked food. Bristle berries, mushrooms and raw meat. This way i never had this problem. But the dupes prioritizing stuff not in containers is pretty annoying once they start going to space for small chunks of iron or end in an endless loop picking up stuff from the bottom of a long ladder and dropping it half way up due to lack of oxygen. KittenIsAGeek
Dupes aren't exactly prioritizing the food on the ground vs food in containers. They're prioritizing by freshness -- dupes tend to eat the least-fresh thing first. Often meat from dying critters is in an environment where it will start spoiling. Some exceptions are gulp fish (the water is below freezing) and drekkos (hydrogen or chlorine atmospheres).

impyre
The priorities make sense if you assume an ideal operating environment: all things hauled during day, no meat or food left laying around, and work time alotted after dinner to properly store uneaten food in the mess hall. The priority of ground food makes sense if you don't do that last part, it's not uncommon for food to get left out overnight. This gets easier as you move up to better foods. Assuming you can keep a constant supply of, let's say, stuffed berries and pepper bread, then you can safely disallow the other items. I generally disallow eating meat earlier on so that I always have it for barbecue.

There are a couple of builds that do it. I used one from this duder to wrap my head around fish farming. I'm sure with the new update there are some upgrades that could be made... I don't speak French either...but he was nice enough to click on everything at least once, so you can kinda figure it out regardless of what he's saying. I will say, the key that he doesn't really cover (or maybe he does in French?), is to set the pressure plate to [Below] 3kg. It acted funky otherwise. It might cram up with eggshells though, but I check on it occasionally...So I'm not really sure.

Chained Phoenix
While on the subject of meat, is there anything good you can make from it? The BBQ isn't ideal as it's a "soul food" which gives them all -2 athletic but I hate to waste food. I've actually got my farms turned off for the moment as I feel over a million in stuffed berries should last me a while and wanted to save the water and focus on using up what I've got first. I don't think it's a waste food.

It won`t produce much coal but eggs are pretty high quality without downsides. Just don`t put too much meat in the feeder at a time so it won`t rot (or put the feeder in CO2/chlorine).
