Why won't dups take transit tube down?

Recommended Posts

They will take it up to this transit tube station but will not take it back down.  Why?  Here is the "top" by space.. You can see the navigation does not include the tube so the dup takes the pole back down.

This the the "base" tube station which they will use to go up to the top. (Dup in the tube is going to the top one)

Do they not take the tube down at all, or only sometimes? Because otherwise I can imagine dupes not taking the tube at all because another dupe has a queued chore to use the tube themselves. They could be running from across the map to use it and lock it down for everyone else. Assuming the lock actually exists.

never.  Tube was empty when I took top screen shot.  I do no think another dupe is "locking out" the tube plus I thought you can have multiple dupes in tubes anyways

That reminds me of when I tried to get a transit tube working, turned out they can cover deodorizers very well and there is no sign that the tube is blocked. I also guess that fire poles are faster, at least the gamepedia says so.

even if the pole is faster, it should show the nav option which it does not

try deconstructing the flagpole and stairs at the top and seal it off with insulated tiles

if dupes still won't use the tube then you got a bug

I deleted a few tiles of poles and it does not make a difference.  I confirmed tube is currently empty and not showing as nav option.

I then deleted ladders and pole so they had no other option and then they have the nav point

maybe we should start building 2 tubes then, one for each way

I meant blocking that option with some tiles

So I ran a test at lowest game speed.  Pole took 17 seconds to get from top to base.  The tube took 15 seconds.  Even when they do take the tube, they jump out early (I have various exits on the tube) and then go to the pole.

Conclusion: When given choice of poles or tubes to go down, dupes always take poles even when it is slower.

well, i think its good that they do take the pole when going down. the tubes consume massive amount of energy so if possible i rather have them taking poles even if its slightly slower

well, except if I built a station, it would be nice that they used it.  Otherwise, it is a waste of time, effort and transformer to bother to have a station (they can go up with just an outlet to the tube)
