  1. 1. What is the ideal number of duplicants?

There is some suppliers for checked cpu`s, bypassing the silicon lottery and selling guarantee`d and checked cpus which reach a certain turbo speed, single core speed, multicore speed, temperature...Standard values & overclocking values.

Intel is getting to its end by now soldering cpu dies to the heat spreader on their latest consumer cpu`s and they struggle to compete, dumping the bad 1 cent heat paste they used to use. No one knows if AMD will have a great turbo boost single core performer in 2019, but hopefully, they continue with good stuff...So perhaps in 2020 or 2021.

Intel gaming cpu`s for pro gamers practically pull 100-200 watt load, its getting hot like it was very long time with amd cpus (and Intel was on relative low TDP`s at the time).

Its funny when sometimes someone writes about ONI "Oh this game should run on my phone". Yeah, right - Imagine the heat of 100 phones in your pocket(20 kilo phone rucksack), batteries empty in 1 second.

Gamers Nexus, Linus Tech Tips and the 8auer provide great info if one is interested in getting the max out of systems, cpu`s,gpu`s,boards and ram.

Game on, happy ONI :)

I usually go with 18-24,

...

I'd like to try going higher, but I end up having trouble keeping them busy once I get much past 20.

Personally I really like how fast the progression is with 24 or 32 duplicants, ...

I’m glad there are players that have seen benefit with more duplicants. It is true too that there’s a point where they start to go idle (that’s when I start to build really crazy stuff to keep them busy)

I’m was initially really surprised to see so many people reference specific numbers due to SPOMs, room limits, etc. Then I realized I did the same thing. Though recently I haven’t been crunching the numbers and instead have been playing more adaptively.

I am currently up to 75, though I am losing efficiency because the duplicants have to walk so far for food, recreation, and beds. These are all centrally located, but they cover a large area. I’m thinking of separating these and making mini-colonies.

Thanks @Saturnus and @Nitroturtle for those great suggestions about work schedules. I only have 3 right now and would likely benefit from having more.

Happy to help.  It seems a lot of people really ignore the scheduling, since we've had to deal without it for so long.  Another tip, based on what I've been doing that's working well, is I setup the 3 shifts, and then I setup 3 additional overtime shifts that correspond to those shifts, but with 2 fewer downtime hours and 1 less sleep hour.  This lets me easily shift dupes around when I need large jobs done and they are low on stress.  I also have a vacation schedule that includes nothing but downtime and sleep, just in a case a dupe gets very stressed out.

That's my preferred playstyle; it works surprisingly well.  The only finicky part is having to manually assign beds, tables, door permissions, etc.  Eight dupes make a nice comfy burrow, with 7 workers and one dedicated caretaker/supply runner.

The biggest problem I have is that I'm leaving all pincha pepper, in addition to sleet wheat, growing wild. So I have lots of jungle biomes (aka caustic biomes) that have randomly placed pincha pepper that make building a burrow of 8 beds, a great hall, and a recreation room difficult to place in close proximity.

It's a good problem to have though: I currently have more pincha pepper than I know to do with and haven't fed them a single drop of polluted water. I really need to add an expresso machine to my base/mini-colonies :)

My swamp biomes are all full of mushrooms or 20kg/tile hydrogen :p also a good problem to have, haha!

I've never delided a cpu, was that out of curiosity or repair reasons?

Overclockers perform delidding as example on the i7 series 6700k 7700k 8700k and lots of other Intel cpu`s, to get the celsius temp of the processor down by up to 20 degree celsius. Replacing Intel`s cheap 1 cent thermal paste with a thin layer of liquid metal between the heatspreader and the die. It makes high permanent turbo boost clock speed for one core possible.

There is similar methods for Ryzen & Threadripper cpu`s - To be found on Youtube with the search words "cpu ABC delid" or "cpu XYZ delidding". Amd also has a software (game) mode to switch off a lot of cores.

There is no option to choose exactly 69 duplicants.  This is the ideal number, you can all go home now, end of discussion.

Mh, that would be a base full of love...Mhhhhhh.

It would be so great to have a Rimworld Mod for ONI, where body parts drop off.
