Oni Noob
Should I add multiple research Module on my rocket or just 1 would work Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97290-research-module/ Share on other sites
crypticorb
You should stack 7 of them on it. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97290-research-module/#findComment-1101465 Share on other sites
Gurgel
Typical target has only 5 research activities, so I would go for 5. You will then get 10 Data-Banks per module as basis (i.e. every mission regardless of target) and 50 for the listed research activity (only once per target and research item there). Oni Noob
So with just a steam engine how many module I can carry? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97290-research-module/#findComment-1101482 Share on other sites

Its not how many modules one engine can carry, but how far will it fly? Its no good, if you can reach the first target with 5 r-,odules, but not be able to go further. So, the only answer to your question ist: It depends. Fischer_L
First rocket (10000 km) can be easly 5 research module on a steam engine. With one solid buster it can reach 20000 km planets. 2 solid buster should pump out it for 30000 but i'm not sure. If I understand correctly to do Interstellar research you need to provide "Data Bank" to the Virtual PLanetarium right? And only way to get Data Bank is you need to travel to space with a Research Module Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97290-research-module/#findComment-1101527 Share on other sites
Fischer_L
Without solid boosters you can only reach first planet, It will provide enough data banks to research solid boosters and reach next etc.I am suggesting delay research cargo branch of space modules, until you research petrol engine, because they almost useless without it. With two solid boosters you can reach 30k km but only with 4 Research Modules, I tested it, kinda (bugs, errors and crashes ultimately...) So you get to the near planets first, collect the 5 50x research goals there, do research and then go to those further out first with booster and then better engine. I used one booster for 20'000km and a petroleum engine for 30'000km. 5 research modules on all of them. For 40'000km I only have 4 research modules, as I do not have enough vertical space for a rocket with 5 research modules and 2 fuel tanks without some rearrangements I am too lazy for. You can carry 9 research modules and go to the first asteroid with a full steam engine (900Kg). For each travel, you will come back with around 5-7 data disk. So you will only need 10 travels to finish all the research, you don't need to go to the other asteroid for that. I could only bring back 5 modules worth from each planet. Return trip did not yield anything Not sure why you suggest something different Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97290-research-module/#findComment-1104059 Share on other sites
