Can Beds be used by multiple dupes?

Recommended Posts

So I finally figured out scheduling, if you schedule dupes to sleep at different times, can you have them use the same beds or mess hall tables if they have different downtimes/sleep times? Mine aren't doing this.  If this is possible, how do I get them to do it?

How else will you control where your loud sleeper sleeps, or make sure your +12 moral required character is in a bedroom, and not a barrack?

Maybe allow it to be set for multiple dupes?  So X dupe sleeps in it during shift 1 and Y does it during shift 2

It's been requested before, in fact many times in the past but by all means suggest it again. It's just one of those annoying things. The worst one to me is the automatically assigned mess table. Why the hell is a mess table personal? If you run a 2, 3, or 4 shift crew you'd want the dupes to use the same mess hall otherwise it's just wasting space. Hot bedding is also a good option we don't have. Maybe just limiting them to bunk beds and not luxury beds as a compromise? But yeah, there should definitely be an option for bunk beds and mess tables to be set to "public".

Wow, this seems like a terrible system, this really ought to change in the next build.  The whole "assaignment" for beds or tables seems completely unecessary.

+1

Would prefer to have an automatic dupe usage too, it could be done in the way that the dupe which used it will seek for it as or when its available again. Currently it feels like setting IRQ jumpers in the 90s with a PC.

Right now Im setting up table, bed, med stuff etc. for 200 dupes - Such a time waster, clicking a thousand times on the assign function. Sometimes it works automatically, most times its just broken.

I neither agree nor disagree, I just wanted to point out that many of the things people are asking for, especially in the annoyance thread, will slow the game down. This idea specifically can require multiple closest bed checks, occupied checks, path checks etc...

What may seem unreasonable to you can actually have many good reasons to be they way that it is.
