Wheeze Worts being destroyed at high temperatures

Recommended Posts

Is it a thing that wheeze worts get destroyed when they are on high temperatures? I have a savegame where my stale wheeze wort sits at 300°C. While still in pause, i can select the wheeze wort (it is already invisible) and when i unpause the plant is automatically unplanted. However no seed is dropped.

I always assumed wheeze worts were indestructable. Did i stumble across a bug or is this a thing?

I noticed the same too.

In my recent game, when I reached the surface, one of the cold WW biomes was next to this very hot regolith/mafic rock. I assume the wheeze wort spammed next to a pool of water that became super hot steam. I saw the WW all yellow, being cooked by the steam. On a reload the WW was gone. Only the steam was left.

As a funny note, the plants by the elevator became nafta due to being in contact with the remnants of the meteor impacts.

Wheezeworts have a temperature range which they will work in before becoming inactive/yellow.  I would assume that there is a buffer temperature range before they 'pop' however I have not noticed in my testing.

In debug mode I have surrounded the WWs in extremely high and extremely low temperatures and they just turn yellow, but if I load a save where they are yellowd they pop.

TLDR: wheezeworts seem indestructible, but will die if outside their temperature range and you load the save.

This is a very old bug which has returned - I posted this in the bug tracker maybe 7-8 months back. It was fixed for a long time, but seems to have reared it's head again.

This is exactly what happened to me. Thanks for the link.

Lost half a day of progress because of this glitch.:(

Hmm I'm afraid to load my save now.. I have a bunch of wheezies cooling down my NG geysers, and I went a bit overboard with the number of them.. so now they're all sitting at -60 or whatever is the lower limit.. if I load, they might pop.

It's a shame things don't catch fire, at 300C, do you really expect anything organic to survive such temperatures?

It sounds like the WW's being indestructible was the bug, not the converse.

It's an alien lifeform so who knows how much temperature they can take. They dont reproduce and drift around in space encountering various temperatures. So, there has to be some kind of resilience inside them.

A bug that only occurs when you dont load a game but works as intended when you load a game?

Please also note that not only the plant is destroyed, but also the seed. And seeds are known to be very resilient. Even those we know on planet earth.

You guys may want to consider that dupes can also skip through 1500°C magma and suffer a little heatstroke...

Quit applying your earth based observations to ONI, you nerds :p

Man + Lava = HeatStroke more or less here as well.

Hell no, this guy was hit by a blob of lava and it seared stone into his leg.

Our dupes can WADE through lava without any immediate issues :p
