andrakuz
Seeing how Balm Lilies can pretty much grow with no other requirements other than temperature and chlorine gas I tried to see if it were possible to make a Dreko Meat Farm to supply soul food for my Dups. Each room's a stable 96 tiles and the critter drop off's are set to have only 5 Critters, Drekos and Baby Drekos. Any Drekos that exceed that number gets sent to kill room below. Not much else to say about the design, the automation is just set to maintain the temperature and save power by turning on at different times. The current design doesn't meet my goal to eventually sustain 8-10 Dups so I'd like as much feedback in order to improve this design That being said I'd also like to confirm a few things: Is it possible to have the stable be more than 96 tiles? Will the grooming station still work even though its outside of a stable? Is there a way to get Critters to reproduce continuously since there cant be no more than 9 critters and eggs in a maxed out stable Will Incubators improve this design? What Can I do with all the excess Balm Lilies? And if I decided to add shearing stations and a bit of hydrogen, could I make use off all that Reed fiber? d Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/93008-need-help-with-dreko-meat-farm/ Share on other sites

No, There is a cheeky wee exploit you can do though to make them not be overcrowded, if you make a section where they cannot go lead into a large open space they will stay uncrowded, but this doesn't count as a room, your build also wouldn't allow it because it requires them to be stuck on a section floating on its own. There is a thread about it being used with shinebugs Unsure, but if you place it outside the stable it will come up with a symbol if it wont work. Other than moving the critters not that I am aware of, I have a build in mind which kind of stops this but it relies on you wanting omelettes as well Incubators require a player, otherwise they speed up the egg which means meat made available, but they are not necessary. Ehhh make them into pills, Maybe they can be composted I don't know. Reed fiber has a limited number of uses once you are done with them its kinda meh, again maybe it is compostable? Carnis
Easy to remove expecting / farm meat from 8critter in 96. Not at all intuitive. Very hard with mix hydrogen/co2 or hydrogen/chlorine. But easy with single gas Stable. Set 1 sweeper / 9 tiles of ground. Set it to loader with critter eggs, conveyor Rail in wall. Set 2nd sweeper with 2s on/1s off automation and not in range to ground as eggdropper at the end of your rail. This Will incubate all eggs for free. Set eggdropper room to autowrangle 0. Set ranches to autowrangle 8 and high priority. -> your newborn go here If there is room Set a fish drop off into liquid with accept all and low priority. -> you get vealmeat, If there is no room. * Snazzy suits for Reed fiber. Overpowered. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/93008-need-help-with-dreko-meat-farm/#findComment-1058589 Share on other sites
Soulwind
Dreckos reproduce very slowly, so a meat farm of them may be rather limited. However, one trick to limit overcrowding is to make multiple ranches separated by an opened door. Each ranch counts separately but the critterscab freely wander around through them. It's not perfect but I was able to keep 12 happy in the space where only 8 should have fit. Grooming stations and shearing stations both function outside of a stable, although I expect that will be changed eventually. Is it possible to have the stable be more than 96 tiles? No that is the size limit Will the grooming station still work even though its outside of a stable? yes, works just fine outside stable Is there a way to get Critters to reproduce continuously since there cant be no more than 9 critters and eggs in a maxed out stable the answer above regarding sweeping the eggs seems to work best, soul food causes the movement detriment ( Grants the Soul Food effect (-2 Athletics, -15% stress) for 2.0 cycles), you could use omelettes with the eggs if you didn't want that. Will Incubators improve this design? would make eggs hatch faster but cost dupe time and energy, omelettes would eliminate this concern What Can I do with all the excess Balm Lilies? I wish I knew - didn't think about composting, as in the previous suggestion, I'll try that And if I decided to add shearing stations and a bit of hydrogen, could I make use off all that Reed fiber? once you get snazzy suits nothing, it is not worth the time and energy costs after that. It depends on what exactly you mean by "stable". If game-defined room with mysterious and so far useless bonus - then no. If place for critters - yes. 2. Grooming station works everywhere, but if next creature is half map away, dupe will spend lot of time whistling, and may break for food or toilet early 3. Yes, just move eggs away as fast as possible (auto-sweeper is best choice) and do not fill stable to maximum, keep one or two less 4. Incubators speedup eggs hatching at the cost of dupes time. So far - useless for big ranches 5. 6. Want to know this myself At least, Lilly seeds can be send to compost. Some more tricks: make separate room for babies. Set drop points so main stables contain only adult. Babyes do not need anything at all, they can survive in a box So far best strategy is to move eggs away by automation and drop it in some place on the floor. Set drop point near, so dupes takes all hatchered babies and move them to a boxes, set autokill room for all adults, with low priority (so far simplest will be fish-release can be set to accept drecos) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/93008-need-help-with-dreko-meat-farm/#findComment-1058597 Share on other sites

It isnt hard, with their stable being 4 high all you need is 1 tile depth of hydrogen, so 1000g per tile is ideal and is what I use. Since it is lighter than chlorine it should stay at the top as well.
