Insane world seed (suitable for explorers/long game)

Recommended Posts

Edit2:

1. I am terribly sorry for offending anyone who dislike flooding the forum with world seed sharing + starting new thread per seed. However, there is no stickied thread to post seed. And I do agree to some comments below that some seeds are irreverent after each patch/update. Unless a mod will keep certain thread update on OP, seed sharing thread will continues.

2. I totally understand why having too many threads are bad as some legitimate thread can easily be buried really fast. But chill out. If you do not like this thread then flag it and let moderator decide if this thread should be kept alive or remove.

3. This is a F*king game. (sorry for my language). Enjoy the game or ignore the thread. If you don't like the thread then don't reply/bump. Let it gets buried. I doubt this thread would stay on page 1 for more than a day; at the rate of how active this forum is.

Hi all,

I don't post much, and I don't see a lot of people sharing their world seed that often either, but I believe this world seed deserve a share.

World Seed: 470970850

So why is this world seed worth sharing? In every game there will be randomly generate geyser, vent, volcanoes. BUT, how often do you get these randomly generate resource generator to spawn near your starting biome? If you are lucky maybe you will get 1 or 2 vents. The world seed above have 7 total geysers 8 total geyser within its adjacent biomes, and I am only 70 cycles into the game. These are discover-able through digging. No debug/map reveal involve. This make the game pretty much sustainable for long run.

So far I found:

3 Natural Gas Geysers

1 Cool Polluted Vent

1 Hot Water Geyser

1 Copper Valcano

1 mini Valcano

edit: just found cool steam vent.

I am not going to spoil where are these geysers are, but you should be able to find at least 3-4 within the first 10-20 cycles.

Happy excavating!

because 99% of that ancient thread is completely irrelevant to current game play?  How about the fact that it provides nothing to the conversation to rehash what seeds used to do?  At what point do we archive the ancient and move forward?

So you think it would be beneficial to have a new thread for every world seed that anybody considers remotely interesting? Forums are structured in threads for a reason.

Considering that you seem to have troubles staying on top of one thread on a single topic (the one i linked), i got a feeling that you prefer some structure as well.

Both getting angry over something silly :p

In any case, if the exact same thread is going to be bumped periodically to page 1, and will always be relevant, that thread should just be stickied.  Because when it falls to page 3 someone will just make a new thread, and it'll get locked, over and over. Just my thoughts.

I think a prudent compromise would be to create a new seed share thread every major update, since each such update will cause old seeds to no longer correlate.

For what reason are we suddenly becoming highly aggressive?

Was just about to post the same suggestion. Seconded.

While it is nice of you to share your world seed, i do not quite understand, why you need a new thread for it.

I get what you're saying with creating new thread. Each day there are probably thousands new seed generated. For me I restart new seed each time a dupe dies (even 1 dupe) so I go through multiple seeds really fast. This seed just happens to be really rare with all the geysers in the adjacent starting biome, and I thought it is worth sharing. I am pretty sure someone will benefit from this seed. Especially new players or someone who want quick access to different geysers.

My base is so far advance that it normally take cycle 200 while I am mere 100 thanks to these geysers.

I agree with your point. But the problem is that normal forum members are not able to sticky a thread. We are just able to remind people that there is already a dedicated thread on the subject or - as you did - ask for sticky.

In any case this thread does not qualify for a compromise, since the title is intended for a single use (promote one world seed with arguable quality). Assuming good intentions, we already got enough threads of this sort.

I will try again. Ain't good how?

Have not loaded the seed, but I can guess.  A general pattern I've observed is that the closer a Geyser is to the starter biome, the lower it's adjusted output (continuous per second equivalent).  Further, my understanding is that the Copper Volcano is the least useful of the metal Volcanoes (people seem to like Gold best?).  Having only the mini Volcano also limits your options for Steam Generators and NatGas cooking due to it's smaller output than the larger Volcano.  Though I will say, 3 NatGas Geysers is kinda impressive, depending on their output rates.

because it ain't good. and it surely does not qualify for the title OP gave

Actually, I think it's a very good seed.  True the 2 NGG near the starting biome are relatively low output, but there's also a polluted water vent right there with them (fertilizer maker room), there's both a cool steam and an actual water vent very nearby for good clean water and a couple of very nice open areas filled with H2 for an easy plastic drecko farm early on (box it off, cut the opening and let CO2 fill the lower portion.  no need to redirect much gas or rely on pumps early on).  And the OP says there's a minor volcano and a metal volcano somewhere on the map (I didn't see them, but I didn't look too hard either).  Having all that heat near the starting biome is really the only downside I see to this map.

All in all, I think it's a very usable map.  In fact, I'll probably use it for my next base attempt.

can someone do me a favor and break into that copper dome in the first cycle and let the vacuum be replaced.  See if you see what I saw.image.thumb.png.4f8628fc907a4266d502d9052cb4a396.png

once the vacuum was replaced a hatch poofed into existence in the top of that chimney space.

Kabrute, I played with it a bit and yes you are almost correct.  A hatch did poof into existence from that 2 tile square at the top.

It didn't appear until I cut out one of the floor area tiles though (tried a couple of times to confirm it and it's the same each time).

I think there's a "buried" hatch in the floor tile that's gotten it's location screwed up, like what happens if you manually teleport stuff.

I knew it looked weird, i'm digging along and poof the hatch appears where empty air was supposed to be.  Ok new bug report digging up hatches seems to launch them into the air o.o

Hatch Catapults!!!  It's not a bug, it's a feature.  :D
