Ok, I actually like Grass Geckos. They're cool. I keep them penned up near my base. Howerver, when a world is generated with Grass Geckos you have to put some regular grass in there, too. Too often I get a world with Geckos and I die the 1st night because I can't find the geckos fast enough and I have ZERO cut grass. Can't make a Torch or a Camp Fire and it's GG.

Grass spawns in Savannahs with worlds generated with Grass Gekkos. But yeah, if you cant find a svannah before the first night, you are boned, unless you use some other method of surviving, such as hopping between fireflies.

Yeah, you can also get grass from tumbleweeds, but that's not the point. In a world without geckos you can find grass in just about any biome except for a pure rock biome.

But the world is too big to reliably find the Geckos, the savannah, or the desert before the 1st night. I've had a game where I spawned in the middle of a gaggle of gecko, and I've had games where I never found a gecko until the 5th day (but did find the savannah that time). And then there are games where you cannot find either before the first night. And I've had plenty of those. And there aren't always fireflies around when the sun goes down.

I'm not going to logout and log in. That's too cheatery for me. If you're going to do that you might as well just c_spawn a fire pit. Either way you don't earn your survival but c_spawn is less of a hassle.

If there's not going to be any grass then geckos should spawn in more places.

How on earth do you manage to not find any grass on your first day? It's ridiculously abundant and you would have probably explored a good portion of the map before the night comes.

Because it's NOT ridiculously abundant when the world generates with Geckos instead of Grass.

Yup. They should do what happens when you get twiggy trees, and just spawn some loose grass around the starting biome for people just joining.

Usually the world spawns in a small chunk of savannah near spawn, but I have experienced worlds where there is zero grass around spawn and if you walk in "the wrong direction" as you can't exactly predict which biome you're going to walk into next, you are left without grass before night fall.

I'd really just chock this up to a case of genuine "bad" world generation.

Usually you can find grass, but I mean... even twiggy tree worlds have sticks laying around... There's really no excuse here and I can see why this would be troubling for new players.

Birds do drop grass on grass gecko worlds. Just pointing it out.

Except people still complain cause others will pick it up before them, also I thought in grass gecko worlds a savanah with grass spawns somewhat near the portal?

Odd, I have literally never had this problem, nor have any of the folks who have played in games with me.  Even in worlds with Geckos I have found the odd grass in various places, normally can find a Savannah in the first day, etc.  Not saying it is impossible, a few folks are obviously reporting it, but it does strike me as odd.

A savanna always spawns within 1-2 screens away from spawn. And it always has grass.

If you have caves enabled, just go inside of one; there's always a decent amount of grass at every cave entrance.
