Wickerbottom Book Uses - List Them All

Recommended Posts

@Kzisor You inspired me to make a "Will it tentacle" series xD. I'd say sorry for the blatant self promotion but I won't be making any money from these videos and I am doing it just for ****s and giggles. Dragonfly vs Tentacles. I also had a sleepytime stories on me just in case, but never had to use it.

Most of them have not much practical use. The end is nigh is basically useless. But I like on tentacles. Renewable (Abv ground) spikes? Hell yeah!.

Birds of the world is good on paper, but no one uses it because:

A. Too much preparation.

B. Other sources available that are honestly more fun (like killing koalephants)

Only use I see is krampus farming with Sleepytime.

Applied Horticulture is good for early game use and when short on grass.

Sleepytime stories=Pan Flute

Birds of the world is just two paper (8 reeds) and an egg.  Eggs are also super easy to get along with reeds.  This a better way of getting blow darts.  Maybe it's just me, but when I set bird traps with seeds, they don't work as fast, and they generally give me morsels instead of feathers for the most part.

Sleepytime is a renewable pan flute.  My brother abuses the pan flute, so it's better to have sleep darts and this book when fighting different bosses.

Applied Horticulture is always useful, it literally grows a bunch of grass, sticks, fruits/vegetables, and trees.

@pofilI totally aprove that "Will it tentacle" serie! I'm also doing my personal one, but I just can't record because laptop xD

For some reason the Klaus' deers break my walls (maybe klei nerfed it?) so I had to fight the enraged mode every time. Two On Tentacles books weren't enough, four made it for me :D I also had to build three stone walls + signs formations because it always spawned from a different angle. They didn't work at all anyway hahaha

I also tried to do a Deerclops vs Klaus vs Tentacles, but I couldn't prepare the arena on time and it was a total disaster xDD

This is how my grass walled area looked like:

Well, to each his/her own.

I like all the books except The End is Nigh and the Bird one.

You are probably standing within their aggro range and that's why they keep swinging at the walls and break them. Notice in my video how I move slowly to the point when I've guided Klaus trough the walls and I am sure the deers are stuck, immediately after I break some distance from the deers, but not too much, so Klaus won't loose aggro. I had to mess around with the spacing quite a bit to get it right without having to massacre the deers, but it can be done.

Your sack spawned in the worst possible place. You need more space to maneuver. I'd suggest moving the walls a bit further back from the sack and/or placing the trap somewhere to the side rather than directly on the sack. Also the bottom set of signs in your screenshot seems very far apart, I assume that the deer will just run trough. If you are careful enough, you shouldn't need  a second set of walls. It just takes patience to guide him trough the one.

I had the walls too far, so I had to put them close because Klaus and the deers spawned already inside of the area. He always spawned way too close to me and I really didn't have time or space to move them correctly. In your video and the others I've seen he seems to spawn way farther than in my case. And yeah that sack by the edge made him spawn from quite bad angles, they always came walking along the shore. Anyway it seems like I won't need walls next time :D.

I'm still proud of my cute grass walls formation

How many tentacle casts? Also I wonder if you did it with godmode on standing at same spot? Those tentacles look really compressed.

No problem dude! I didn't invent the strategy. I just polished it a bit. Found in in this thread where there are several others. I do beleive this is the most practical one though:

You could also use a berry bush hat after the queen gets hit by tentacles and she loses aggro. I found this more tedious though. Maybe simply because I hate the berry bush hat with a passion since my early day DS ruin raiding.

If you hide in the hat quickly enough, she doesn't aggro on you at all.

I used 5 or 6 books for the video, but you surely can get away with less. I leave it up to you to experiment. I used godmode to kill dfly once so she won't mess with my building (that's why it's winter in the video). You could just lead her away from the arena when she comes after you and she despawns, but it's annoying af. I've not used god mode to cast the tentacles or during the fight. You can see I loose health and sanity (mostly). You can have a look at the beequeen video to see how to place the tentacles so densely without getting hit. I have to admit that it is tricky to lose dfly's aggro to the tentacles without getting stun locked to high heaven. I tank a hit each time she returns in the exact same spot, so she get's hit by the tentacles and I don't.

Thanks. I don't mind taking a few hits. in the video I got hit by the tentacles because the game was lagging due to the recording. My laptop isn't meant for such endeavors.
