I saw Revoluszyn's post and it made me want to share more ideas for books I think it would be great to see a little more moon magic in Wiker's books, as this character seems to have some interest in this type of magic. and that's why I began to imagine that books could be useful in some way while entering into that kind of magic. They're not solid ideas so I won't defend them, they probably won't work well implemented in the game, I just wanted to share the idea of adding more lunar content to wiker. practical moon magic. a minor version reduced in price and minor benefit seeing what happened with the changes of the lunar grimoire and the different opinions that arose regarding its price or benefit, perhaps a viable option could be to obtain it in a progress of two books, increasing the number of uses of the grimoire perhaps 5 and decreasing the uses of its version reduced to 2, also in its reduced version the affected area could be limited to the location where the book was used or a number of tiles basic astronomy The point of this book would be to be able to control falling meteors as a weapon maybe in area attack, or to a specific area. they could drop small amounts of moonstones. nocturnal poetry a possible extinction of the Sleepytime Stories giving you and your friends a slight sanity boost slow like jelly beans but with sanity spectral transmutation summon some gestalt to help you in battle by sleeping and lightly hurting enemies. maybe useful with large amounts of enemies. I imagined this book as the opposite version of Maxwell's warriors moon biology transform the plants and creatures on the tiles near you into moon versions

So this has been a very heated topic but I feel like I should propose some solutions to the issue the moon book brings up even though I'd still like Walter tweaks I feel this needs higher priority for the multiplayer experience of dst. So my ideas for moon book changes mostly aren't anything that haven't been mentioned by others. First the moon book should not change the moon cycle and on the day and night of the new moon the book should fail to make changes on the world this would fix a major issue I have with the book as doing this keeps the shadow pieces from being a majority vote scenario I don't know of any negative effects this would bring so I see no reason to make players have to convince people to go multiple days without a full moon for you to do a event most of the server may not care about at the time. Now this part that would be a more involved change Woodie I proposed changing how the moon effects him and how his perks fuction to better suit the new normal Wickerbottom imposes on to the world. My pitch is -Woodie should no longer lose hunger from the transformation but lose hunger 20 percent faster -Woodie should have access his inventory use food and be able to pick items up but not equip them in his were form I feel this is more reasonable than ever since transformations are completely out of his controll even in the early game now -Woodie should regain his weather immunity he used to have in consideration of his lack of control and how we've eased up overall on weather immunity Personally even if things aren't resolved how I pitched them at the very least I feel Woodie's issue needs to be addressed before that book is allowed to go to the live servers.
  3. The current grimoire recipe is insanely expensive! (and it is very harmful if you steal stones from the archive) I suggest replacing craft with: a lens with yellow stones, moon butterfly It would solve a whole bunch of problems: 1.problems with cheap price. 2.Problems with too expensive price, 3. problems with looting archives, 4 problems with not using these lenses in crafting 5. and ESPECIALLY the problems with the inability to get a book in a world without caves!

I think a lot of people find Overcoming Arachnophobia (spider book) and Lux Aeterna Redux (tier 2 light book) a bit underwhelming, so here's my suggestion: The tier 2 light book is a bit underwhelming and doesn't add much to the gameplay; it's simply a longer lasting version of the normal light book. I think if it did something more interesting, for example, giving players a 5 minute light emission buff (like glowberries) upon touching the light or something like that, it could be more interesting and fun. The spider book is a fun idea, but simply isn't strong enough to be useful. It would be neat if it stayed forever, and could be removed with a razor. I'm not sure if it slows down bosses as of now, but if it does, maybe having both of these upsides together would be a bit much. I like the Wickerbottom rework overall though, but I feel like it could benefit a lot from making some of the less interesting or simply weak books more interesting (fun). And to be clear, I don't think every single book should be hugely useful, just a small change to the weaker ones could make them fun and useful in at least some situations.

Wickerbottom - BETA Tests Feedback (Tested by players with over 1000+ game hours in realistic scenarios, so even being an early feedback, it wasn’t rushed) Disclaimer: What we had in mind thinking about these changes: Wickerbottom is a hell of a strong character that has a lot of useful resources and mechanics with few penalties compared to how others are penalized for using their perks, since what she does directly affects the whole environment and players, and are not just some boosts to herself. The access to these tools, currently, are bluntly so easy to handle that makes all the effort to make anything else with other methods just pointless compared to how Wicker can just do stuff “for free”, and for this game, this level of easy doesn’t properly translates to the “Don’t Starve Experience” fun in our opinion, it just makes practically any struggle disappear. So, with that in mind, those are the changes we thought that could be applied: The Burnout Meter Book Adjustments DISCLAIMER AGAIN: That's it, ! ps: Oh, and also, using Pyrokinetics Explained is causing game crashes. ps.2: The biggest issue is also that she lacks a unique gameplay for her own. All she does is for everyone and never only for her, basically just a resource station.

Hello and thank you soo much for taking the time to read this! basically what im trying to do is rename all of wickerbottom's books and place them into a new custom tab with different craft materials for a MOD character. So far i've managed to successfully recreate the Sleeping and Tentacle books and was able place them in my custom tab with other custom items. fully functioning. but i came across a problem when i was recreating the "birds" book.; i'm able to place it into my custom tab no problem, but when i try to use it , it functions the same as the sleep book for some reason and doesn't summon the birds. at first i thought i placed the "sleep" code in my "bird" book but that wasn't the case... here's the code i've used for my bird book: function star_bird_book(inst, reader) local birdspawner = TheWorld.components.birdspawner if birdspawner == nil then return false end local pt = reader:GetPosition() reader.components.sanity:DoDelta(-50) --we can actually run out of command buffer memory if we allow for infinite birds local ents = TheSim:FindEntities(pt.x, pt.y, pt.z, 10, nil, nil, { "magicalbird" }) if #ents > 30 then reader.components.talker:Say(GetString(reader, "ANNOUNCE_WAYTOOMANYBIRDS")) else local num = math.random(10, 20) if #ents > 20 then reader.components.talker:Say(GetString(reader, "ANNOUNCE_TOOMANYBIRDS")) else num = num + 10 end reader:StartThread(function() for k = 1, num do local pos = birdspawner:GetSpawnPoint(pt) if pos ~= nil then local bird = birdspawner:SpawnBird(pos, true) if bird ~= nil then bird:AddTag("magicalbird") end end Sleep(math.random(.2, .25)) end end) end return true end im able to spawn and read the "original birds book" and it works perfectly but for some reason my custom birds book won't work,... can you please take a look at my star_bird_book.lua and also wickerbottom's books.lua to let me know where i messed up? could it be that i have to add the bird spawner tag into my star.lua? im new to all of this... still learning thanks so much in advance!
  8. This is for a Waverly mod I'm making. It needs to be able to craft Wickerbottom's books, and must make all neutral and hostile, or other, mobs to attack her on sight. Thanks in advance. ~Union
