Shadow Clockworks Strategies and Shadow Atrium

Recommended Posts

Hey, so I saw the stats for Shadow Clockworks that have been added recently, tried to kill a few of them and not being an excelent fighter, died 2 times. They are almost impossible to kite. Have you guys developed any good strategies for these yet?

And yeah, what do you think the shadow atrium will be for. To me it looks like a heart, so probably ressurecting even bigger and scarier shadows? Some ridiculous boss? Or a weapon to kill Charlie (the bad part of her)? Maybe a main item to craft a portal to DST adventure mode?

EDIT: The atrium is actually called 'shadowheart' in files, so yeah :)

The only thing i hate about this game is that there are no clear instructions about [new] things and just saying X thing has been added in the changelog without at least mentioning one basic thing about it. No one yet has found out anything about that horny skeleton and shadow heart.

Funny, I especially like to explore new thing, so that I can find out how/for what to use them.

you called?

When I fought the new shadows, they seemed pretty easy. You just need to be prepared. Have armor and hp items and stuff.

Really? I tried to solo them, but got killed by the tier 2 shadow bishop. And I had 3 nightmare armors and 10 dragonpies... it was crazy, how fast the armor's durability decreased when that bishop attacked me in a row.

And I also do not know, what is the shadow atrium good for. In two weeks we may see...

Well, soloing 3 shadows never really turns out well.

The shadow atrium has no use right now, it'll have a use next update hopefully.

It is possible to solo them. I've done it before. It's just expensive and not very easy. Try to get a nice pile of night armor (or marble) nearby and try farming some green caps to help with sanity. And a bit of jerky helps with it's health, hunger and sanity benefits too.

Of course this fight is meant for multiple people, but at least it can be done solo unlike the Dragonfly is now.

Watch out, you're going to attract the "professionals" and make them shout out about how everything's too easy and still needs to be buffed!

I kinda hope so because I have yet to see any videos or posts about killing the dragonfly solo after the change to the fight.

Haven't done dragonfly solo at all before and don't think she's too easy or anything but any strategies to do it solo that don't involve glitches should still work fine with a panflute or sleepdarts to use on her when she enrages.

I wasn't on when it happened, but I saw a scaled furnace built on day 25 on a Strictly Professional server. So it's definetly possible.

Isn't that a public server though? Meaning more then 1 person? The fight isn't that difficult with group of people. Still, having a scaled furnace on day 25 is an impressive feat.

I like to do the same thing but it gets really boring and annoying when you spend ALL your time just to figure out what X and Y does rather than working with other players to survive

In case you didn't notice, that's what Don't Starve was always about. Finding new things yourself, often by dying in the process.

They never gave you any explanation in game, so you had to either google it, or man up and try different things yourself until you figure it out. I remember my first summer and seeing my pretty camp burn.. :(

Releasing them by the Dragonfly and watching them duke it out sometimes works. The Shadow Knight will sometimes make the Dragonfly go too far out of it's arena though ruining the whole process.

Wait, the dragonfly can fight the shadow clockworks? Well that's interesting. If the dragonfly wins you get the loot for the shadow clockworks, and if the shadows win you get the loot from the dragonfly. I would have thought only players could attack the shadow clockworks like other shadows.

And now that this is out in the open it's going to be patched so only players can attack the shadow clockworks making this no longer possible.

Strategy :

1. Make a Knight Figure, break it and count how many hits is needed to kill the Shadow Knight.

2. Make a Knight Figure and a Rook Figure and prepair a marble on the Potter's Wheel for the Bishop Figure.

3. Break the Knight Figure and hit the Shadow Knight until it need one hit to die.

4. Avoid the attacks, make a Bishop Figure, wait for it to break and kill the Knight.

5. Kite the attacks using a Walking Cane or The Lazy Explorer and kill the bishop. (Probably you will be hit once or twice by the bishop but is not a big problem)

6. Kite the Rook and kill it. (Walking Cane or The Lazy Explorer AND a Magiluminescence for Full Belly Wolfgang / WX System Overload and a Walking Cane or The Lazy Explorer (don't know if is needed a Magiluminescence for WX) / Walking Cane or The Lazy Explorer, Magiluminescence and a road for others characters)

7. Enjoy the loot \o/

Obs: Don't tested kiting stuff with beefalos, so it might be possible.

With special thanks to Detirce for remembering me about the roads xD

If you don't want to use the world roads you can make one like this :

Pigmen and bunnies can also fight the Shadow Clockworks. I remember seeing one of the devs say monsters being able to see the shadows was intentional since they aren't connected to the level of sanity the player has.
