Destroying Dangling Depth Dweller's nests?

Recommended Posts

I've read a lot about people destroying the DDD nests by lighting something on fire right where they are spawned in the world, but I've never managed to do it in DST, nor have I seen a video of anyone actually doing it in either version (DS or DST). Can someone elaborate, and preferably provide video?

  • The "centre of the webbing", where the nest is located in terms of world coordinates, blocks items from being dropped directly in its place. (I think I've tried with grass, twigs, logs and pinecones, always the same result.)
  • So I've tried placing 3 pinecones as close to the centre as possible, then planted trees all throughout the webbing, and lit them on fire when they reached tier 3. Still nothing.

Hm, that's Don't Starve Alone and I've learned the hard way that there are many important differences from DST ("How am I supposed to get a huge amount of wood without bigfoot?" and "Dragonfly has HOW MUCH health?") :D (The answers are:

Spoiler

"bearger" and "over 2 days worth of tanking with a hambat as Wigfrid, walled of from lavae by stone walls"

But thanks anyway, I see in the video that log placement is a bit fiddly and apparently must be at the nest's coordinates to work.

  • Can any of you actually place objects directly under a nest like that? Maybe one of my mods is causing it, but I just can't. The action ("Drop") disappears when hovering over the nest's place.
  • 2nd thought - Even assuming a log can be placed directly under the nest, wouldn't the nest have higher health due to this being the DST? So even if I target the nest successfully, it wouldn't be destroyed by only 1 log.

The nest has no health.

It simply does not exist I think, as, well, the game doesn't run/create any celling, and that's where it would be. I'd guess its more of a "spawner is here, if fire starts on spawner, spawner goes away" thing.

Is this a thing? Where else can/does this happen? (McTusk igloo outside of winter comes to mind, I've never tried to burn it though). IIRC, all other spawners are structures which block items from being placed on them.

Anyway, I'll try disabling NO RELEASE DEPLOYABLES to see if that's causing my inability to place items at the DDD nest.

Well after disabling the mod, I was able to drop logs on the exact spot which blocked planting pinecones.. burnt 3 very close to each other, still nothing. :(

I'm willing to go with a full stack of gunpowder and see what happens then...
