Will Bearger fight Deerclops or vice versa?

Recommended Posts

I have a bearger in a forest biome this autumn and have been using him to farm wood. He's handy, and never stays aggro at me for long. But that's the same forest where I lead Deerclops for similar purposes. Will the bearger de-spawn when winter comes, and if not, will he and Deerclops aggro each other?

Bearger usually wins even if you severely damaged him before, because his attacks inflict way more damage than deerclops' ones. Just keep in mind to stay as far away from bearger as possible when deerclops aggroes him, because his yawn will stun you in place, leaving you open to their AOE attacks. And dont forget, bearger eats one random piece of meat dropped from dead opponent before going back to sleep again, so you have 1/9 chance of losing deerclops' eye. (putting them both to sleep just before bearger lands last hit on deerclops would be good idea, as you will be able to finish clops' yourself without worrying about the eye).

P.S. Both beargers and dearclopses could be killed easily if you happen to live next to dragonfly. Prepare bush hat, come to her when you start hearing growls, try to sneak to center of her special area, use the hat, wait for giant to spawn around, wait for fly to attack cocky guest - it may take a while, and get the **** out and watch the show).

The only way to "despawn" a Bearger is to hang him on your dry racks, else he will hibernate in Winter and Spring and be active looking for food in Summer and Autumn.

As long as you don't have any meat on you (inventory or in backpack) nor pick his food 3 times in a row he will not agro on you, you could put 1 rot close to another like bread crumbs and make him walk where you want. :)

Not a good idea at all. I'm saying this from testing experience; unless you're dead as a ghost, Dragonfly's Lavae will attack you once she goes to spawn them in regardless of whether you have bush hat equipped or not.

Fun fact though; if Dragonfly had like 20 000 hp instead of 27 500, Hybernating Bearger would win! For the sake of my amuzement I killed my character, had a mod that lets my server have larger zooming out area, went to Dragonfly, spawned in Bearger, set the season to winter (Bearger won't hibernate if you turn it winter first and THEN spawn him in) and they had a boss fight. The shame was that Lavae didn't go after Bearger, though because they only target players at all times and if there's no players to attack, they remain idle and Bearger can easily take them out. Because of the sucky Lavae the fight wasn't as exiting as I hoped it would be, but to my surprisde Bearger's hibernating qualities dealt over 20 000 damage (I had the health indicating mod on as well) before Dragonfly finally roasted him. So, this just goes to show how great something can be if you simply increase its combat mechanics (not damage dealt, Klei... Klei? Klei!!!! I swear down, these guys are pretty primitive in understanding what "challenge" means :/ ) that thing willbe capable of beating/damaging greatly even the most high healthed/most well prepared things/mobs/players!

What about you fuel the fight and then leave minding other activities far away from the arena and return later to see the result? We did that and as expected Dragonfly won and we picked Bearger's loot unharmed.

If you have hound mounds, hounds may eat the meat. And if you move too far, the world there freezes. The dragonfly regenerates full health if she leaves you too (by the way, why do we go "he" for the deerclops and the bearger while the dragonfly is a "she"? I get it for the moosegoose since she lays eggs...).

(Dragonfly has lavaes. Given I didn't research who lays what for insects, but neither do most people, they just assume "its a parent who spawned its children" "its a female" since it seems logical)
