Trevor couldn't believe it. Kelsey was talking to the rabbit. Why though? So many questions. It seemed like he would have to wait to get them all answered, as his stuffed pal wasn't really feeling too well. Kate could probably bring up his mood, so he just sat down and started to think.

(Back from exams! I completely failed the math test and almost got into a car accident, but hey.  At least it's over!*)

*(at least until part 2)

As the sun starts to near the horizon, the group notices storm clouds on the horizon.  Faint sparks of lightning and blasts of thunder rumble in the distance, and a faint breeze whistles through the ship's sails.  The air starts to feel cold.

Meritursas notices the storm.  "Perhaps...I should return to full size...to prevent us from capsizing."

Kate was momentarily stunned by the sudden push back from the shadow tentrils. After a moment, she pushes the dog off her and scoots over to Wiffleball, and though still very concerned, she was hesitant to touch him. The hug earlier seemed to have just made things worse, and she was still frightened by the sudden appearance of the tentacles. She flinched and "EEP!"'d at the sudden thunder echoing through the cargo hold.

The dragon tilted it's head while looking down at the tiny nightmare creature. It seemed cold and sickly. She bent her head down and gave it a tiny, concerned nudge with her nose, letting out a small whimper.

Noctimus nuzzled the dragon's nose when it came near, then smiled weakly. The smile was interrupted by a sneeze.

Thunder and lightning didn't really bother Trevor. In fact, it was the last thing on his mind at the moment. He was still thinking away.

The dragon blinked before lifting her head and scanning the boat. She saw her favorite humans person doing... whatever that was. He'd do. She abruptly grabbed him by the collar of his robe with her mouth and dragged him over to the sickly tiny shadow creature, pointing at it with her claw. Hopefully he'd understand it needed assistance.

Syndir's flailing continued as he was dragged away. He didn't let up until he spotted the reason for his abduction.

"Oh, no worries little pal! I'll fix you right on up!"

Immediately he pulled his necklace of totems from around his neck and slid off a single one. Then he took his staff and prodded a hole into the discolored wood, and set it down next to Noctimus.

"Drink up the sap alright?"

Meritursas jumps overboard, and after bumping the ship slightly, surfaces at full size.  He picks up the ship in his jaws, careful not to damage the hull, and proceeds swimming.

"perhaps...the rest of you...should return below deck."  He recommends, handing the thing to Famen.

When the ringing in his ears died down and he was able to sit up again, Wiffleball came to the rather poignant realization that he'd  screwed up, and rather royally, too. Kate was sitting nearby him, but fear glinted in her eyes, and it wasn't too hard for him to guess why. He considered trying to tell her otherwise, but seeing how well his conversations had gone thus far, he was tempted to just stay silent. Still, he hated seeing Kate so scared, especially of something as simple as a storm. He raised both of his paws in a disarming fashion, then walked towards her and sat down.

"Excellent. However, will... you be able to keep... it steady? I do wish to... try out something." She sat on the ground next to Meritursas, and started concentrating. A blunt-looking ring of some kind of material started forming right under her claws.

The dragon looked up at the approaching storm, and then gave a nod to Meritursas. She gently picked up the sickly tiny nightmare creature and the carved wood piece, dropping them in the arms of her favorite humans person before pushing him with her head towards the entrance to the cargo hold.

Kate relaxed a little when she saw Wiffleball was alright. Normally she wasn't scared of storms, unless there was a tornado or flood warning on the TV that made her mom scared, but in the middle of nowhere with a big sounding storm, far away from the safety of her home in a dark, empty place with a lot of echoing... she was just a little bit nervous. She pulled her legs up to her chest and reached for her blanket, but then realized that it had gotten all spitty and was left on the deck. At least the rain would clean it off.

Meritursas nods, tightening his grip.  He wasn't going to let this boat rock, no sir.  He was gonna be the best sail around.  He wouldn't even have to damage the ship further by picking up more of it, he'd just -

A particularly strong gust of wind causes him to panic, closing his jaws around the entire raised back of the ship and snapping off the sail like a twig.  A row of his teeth punch through the bottom of the hull, alarmingly close to the others below deck.
