"Splendid." The shadow clicked its tongue in satisfaction, and for a moment, Noctimus saw the full form of the shadow - massive and serpentine, with sharpened pincers at both ends and two rows of thin legs going down both of its sides. It almost resembled a giant centipede, poised and ready to cleave the tiny creature in half. Noctimus blinked, and just like that, the figure was gone, reduced once more to black sludge in a bottle.

"Now, then." The shadow's eyes fell on Gyx, who was slowly but surely chasing them down. "I'd advise that you find that rabbit quickly. We have work to do."

Sure, Gyx could have stopped Noctimus. But he instead lay on the floor, curled up and shivering... That thing crawled into where it didnt belong, and he felt violated.

Meanwhile, Noctimus would be stopped dead in his tracks as Gyxs crab stood in his way. In one of it's claws it held a knife, and clacked its other claw aggressively.

Noctimus shivered. He had seen some things. Surely the shadow saw that life could be A LOT better then being in Ma. Oh yeah. The crab. Noctimus just ran past.. It's not like the crab could catch up to him.

Kate let her friend go, deciding to let him have his space. She wiped under her eyes with the back of one hand while petting Noctimus with the other.

(I'm also half expecting Syndir to try to throw Kate into a volcano at some point.)

{White Card: Throwing virgins into a volcano}

3 pages. Good job waiting}

Viridis had followed the shadow creature. She was observing it from the trees, and now there was a crab attempting to stop it. She jumped down right between them, and kneeled down to the bottle-holding Noctimus. "Listen... little guy. The little... girl has got your friend the rabbit. I wish to assist... and bring you to her." She held out her tail to him.

Kate came upon where Gyx lay. She seemed tired and frayed, like she was worn out to near the point of snapping. She stopped right next to him, seemingly towering above his shuddering form.

"Interfere and I will melt the flesh off your bones."

Those words were spoken calmly, and the withering, wrathful glare that accompanied them cemented that she wasn't kidding. She stepped over him and found Viridis talking to Noctimus and being held up by a crap. A stupid crab. A stupid, stupid crab that she didn't want to deal with. She kicked it with considerable force, sending it flying into the jungle, and stood there, watching the two of them with almost wild eyes.

"Nrgh!" Gyx snapped out of his trauma and waddled into the jungle after his crab. He found it sitting atop a tree stump, surrounded by a dozen dead Prime Apes. Huh. What a coincidence. He picked up all the primates, and stored them. He then picked up the crab and rested it on the top of his head, and headed back to Meritursas, his mood somewhat improved.

Mark stood still, examining the scene carefully. He was trying his best to understand all that was-

That girl... released fire from herself again...

The first time, Mark thought he was just not seeing things right, but now... now...

He got angry. Just by thinking about something like that. He was disgusted, even. Fire. Fire could dry water. Fire was bad. Fire hurts. Fire not good. Fire...

Mark hissed loudly. He couldn't keep his anger about fire inside himself much longer, so he released it like that.

wait... no, no. Those were not his thoughts! Fire was good! Fire dried water! The heat stopped his...

His transformation. Of course! He forgot about that stage of it. Having your thoughts mixed up like that didn't feel good at all...

He just hoped it wouldn't go any further. He didn't get that wet anyway, right? ... Right?

Kate stepped up to the two of them and held out the empty plush to Noctimus. She didn't care what was in that bottle or how it did it, but that black sludge was what made her friend alive. Strangely enough, it reminded her of the shadows she saw flickering at the edge of her vision...

"Fix. Him."

The shadow swished back and forth within its confines.

"A proper binding ritual would work for an unwilling shadow, but I've never quite heard of a willing one." It seemed to glance over at the lifeless rabbit, as if preparing itself. "Nevertheless, I am sure it can be done."

"Open the bottle."
