As Kate listened to the conversation below deck, a wave of panic rolled over her. No, the monster wouldn't bring us all out here to feed to her, not after all the trouble he's gone through to keep everyone safe... would he? He did get really mad at everyone just a few minutes ago... Did he decide that we're not worth having around anymore?

(She doesn't have a nose.)

"you...may not...eat the humans."  Meritursas growls.  The serpent put on a pouty face.  "Aww...but they look so tasty though..."  She turns her gaze back to Meritursas.  "What happened to you, Meri?  You never bring me any presents anymore.  You never even visit!"  She complains.  "Can I at least take a closer look at them?"

(Maybe.  I seriously have no idea what relationship I'm writing between them at this point.)

(Maybe it's one of those relationships where she is an ex-girlfriend but she doesn't know it because Meri is too much of a wuss to tell her that he wants to break up so he started ignoring her in the hopes that she after a while she would initiate the breakup instead.)

(Can you blame him?)

(That said, I guess it could work.  It fits with his current attitude towards her and could lead to some hilaaaaarious passive-aggressive shenanigans.  I guess I'll give it a shot.)

Gilda didn't want to be eaten! She could not believe that the creature that was steering the boat would take them to this thing! Gilda wouldn't go down without a fight.

-------

Wheke considered jumping off the boat and making a dash for it, s/he decided it probably wasn't the best idea...

Meritursas looks at his captor uncertainly.  "Oh, come on, Meri.  I'm not gonna drop them."  She says not-so-reassuringly. "That's...not...what I'm...worried about." He mutters.  "Fine."

She unfolds a pair of spindly, spiderlike arms and picks up the ship less than gingerly, leaving a bunch of splinters in Meritursas's mouth.  He spits them out in disgust, then starts trying to cough up the potato thing.

"Hello!"  She says enthusiastically, lifting the boat up to her eye.

Viridis walked in front of the beast's right eye, and made a bow. "Good day. How... do you do?" She wasn't afraid of the massive beast, since she has two friends who are very large herself. In the forest she used to live in it was normal that enormous creatures passed by regularly, and she would always try to get closer, which the trees told her not to do so.
