Caves Beta - November 13th Update

Hey folks! Happy Friday the 13th! But what good luck, there's an update!

Changes

  • Added a mod info flag for backwards compatibility. If you specify version_compatible in modinfo.lua, you can update the mod to a new version, but versions of your mod as old as the value specified in version_compatible will be able to join the server without downloading the latest version.

  • Moving will automatically take you out of hiding in Snurtle Shell Armour

  • Talking will no longer take you out of hiding in Snurtle Shell Armour

  • Reduced network data for Cave Lights

  • Added an "any" playstyle option when browsing servers, plus icons next to server names so you can tell the style in a mixed list.

 

Bug Fixes

  • Crash when haunting a spider hole

  • Crash when haunting a cave worm

  • Fixed crash on clients sometimes when encountering a Birchnut Tree Monster

  • Unequipping the Bush Hat right after activating it no longer makes you invisible

  • Moggles will now trigger night vision properly when equipped/unequipped directly on the inventory slot

  • Fixed bug where the damage overlay sometimes does not go away

  • No more rooks in the broken altar set pieces (snuck out last release!)

  • Spores no longer refill their freshness on load (snuck out last release!)

  • Steam profile will not pop up while chatting in the in the lobby screen

  • Clicking to edit text boxes on OSX and Linux works again

Hello... It's me... (totally not an Adele reference x3)

Anyways! Do you think there ever will be an option when we play DST where when we host a server from the host menu it can support a multilevel server? I'm having a very hard time trying to get the Dedicated servers to work, the mods to actually be in the game, and the world to be customized. Quite frankly I'm lost lol. I follow the instructions but I end up being lost in the end :( So would that be an option that the DST team will be implementing eventually? If so would it let me host regularly just like how I do now with my friends for a server up to 6 through the DST host game menu?

I tried  the pre-configured server and it is really pre-configured from top to buttom i guess. I mean you cannot change slot number, you cannot change name, description of the server and you cannot even put a password... Alright i can understand the other things cuz they are pre-configured but at least it would be optional to put a password..

I've been noticing that bee boxes don't produce honey unless within a screen distance or two. If placed far away from people, the bee boxes just don't produce any honey. I've tested this with bee boxes in the caves under natural light and with plenty of flowers nearby. Hoping that bees will produce honey again far away at least with those conditions.

I've been using the pre configured dedicated servers and I've been able to change both the description and the name. Are you sure your looking at the right folder?

inst it this? I did not see any settings.ini folder like regular dedicated servers. Also are you able to put up a password or it has to be a public server?

Anyways. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I found the easy config files for overworld and cave. When I start them in default option they work. Then I close both console which shuts down servers. Change settings.ini files such as name change and password and then restart both servers. And this time the server does not show up... To bring back the servers i completely delete settings.ini file of both servers and and restart them. it installs the default files back which works. I thought it would be easier but apparently traditional method to download and install a dedic server is much much much more easier and it works without any problem after you stop and change settings.ini folder..

Thanks for sharing, but the highlight effect is normal and it is like that in regular Don't Starve as well.

 

I don't think he/she is referring to the highlight effect.  If you didn't notice, there's a Lumpy evergreen that looks regular when moused over to examine while wearing moggles.  Not sure if things to be examine losing their highlight effect is normal or not.

When you put your cursor over something you highlight it. Due to the moggles colour cube, you see that effect.
