I have everything I want/need by day 50.I have a save on day 64 and I haven't played it in a while because I don't know what to do in it. Dr Tanner Posted January 1, 2013 Share Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) Personally I went on a horrible, oppressive crusade against spiders and wiped them all out, and now there's only one nest in a controlled location on my island, which I put there. Whenever I need silk or whatever I'll just take some pigs from the pig village I'm building near my base and kill them all. I'm also slowly wiping out the tentacles in the massive swamp biome, then using the meat I get from them to turn pigs into werepigs and get more pig skins to help build the aforementioned pig village. In other words, I'm on day 190~ and I'm slowly destroying every threat there is there and making the entire island mine. I will own that place. The whole island will be my playground. I might build a few smaller bases in a few places once I'm done doing that, just so that I've always got somewhere to hang out no matter where I am. I just have to get rid of the rest of those tentacles, and then my hostile takeover will be complete. Anyway, my map is the new mapgen, and I've been about 50-75 days without a backpack because I refuse to make a new one, and the old one is deep in the only island I haven't fully mapped... I've gone through many an effigy and a few boring beard-growing breaks trying to tame that island enough to retrieve my backpack. I'm in the process of reducing the spider population to not more than one within a large enough region that I can come upon it in Queen form, take it out, and replant it without worrying about interference. After that, I'll work on the swamp tentacles, and setting up a functioning base on each island, with a hound zone, a spider farm, and at least one reliable source of food, as well as grass and twigs, since you always need lots of grass, and some twigs.Since there's no Pig King on my map (unless it's hiding on the island of death) I kinda have to tame the world in a timely fashion, or I will run out of flint & gold and die when the spiders come for me. As long as I can manage the spiders and farm them, I'll be happy. I don't know how long I can survive without a Pig King, but I do intend to find out, or get very bored trying. DeadlyFoez Posted January 2, 2013 Share Posted January 2, 2013 I'm at day 351 right now. I am trying to wipe out everything on all the islands and collect every resource. I try to do new things and set up more challenges for myself. Once I get every resource (besides the pig king and the tall birds) over to my base then I will feel that I have exhausted the game, but by that time a new update will have come out that will make things more interesting. I still have yet to do everything possible in this world. Like I have not gone fishing yet, but I have built a fishing pole. I finally just killed my first toad today. I'm also having fun preparing my pig army and wiping out a forest quickly, even though I have no use for all that wood, it is still fun. I have only 1 meat effigy right now. and I don't ever plan on having a lot of them at one time either. Actually, I wanted to see how far I could go without shaving or dying and losing my beard. I have currently 2 Sub Bases and one Motherbase (I need 6 campfires to light up the hole thing) and 3 more subbases are still in planing, then I have to finish my own pigvillage and I still need to duell with the krampus. Make an army of smallbirds so large, it can take on the army of pigs you've created. Make a treeguard fight a spider queen to the death. The world is full of oppurtunity. Seize it.
