Some ideas for DST

- Destroying skeletons for sanity gain: So after playing a couple of servers, I´ve realized that most game worlds quite quickly end up looking like the Vietnam War. Skeletons and burnt trees end up spreading around the world, making the server look really horrible (and not in a natural way). One of the ways that could help this issue is if destroying skeletons with a hammer would gain sanity for players, similar to picking flowers. This way, we have a reward to motivate people to clean the place up a bit. It also makes sense irl logic, as burying/putting your friend´s corpse to rest would probably make you feel better. Also skeletons could also act similar to Dark Flowers, as being around them drains your sanity.

 

- Spending time with other player´s gains sanity: Motivates people to not be jerks, or at least form tribes. 

 

- A system in which I can ally people in order to avoid friendly fire: When you attack people, the alt f can sometimes end up hurting your friends, especially when using blow darts. I haven´t really figured out how to avoid this and it´s really annoying.

 

- Traps for players: Anything I can use to protect my base...Anything at all. I´ve suggested in the past, bush traps (crafting recipe: bush + tooth trap): a bush that when picked by players activates a hidden tooth trap that hurts them severely

- I get what you're going for here, but I don't think smashing a skeleton to bits counts as "putting them to rest." Perhaps instead you have the option of burying the skeleton with a shovel in exchange for sanity and tidiness, and breaking the skeleton is treated like desecrating graves and you lose sanity from it, but you get the bone shards and the skeleton is still removed.

- Seems like it would be useful, perhaps it could even be tied to a group or your friends list so that they are automatically in your team.

 

- I'm not sure how i feel about this. I guess I don't really have a problem with it, but I think a way to keep ghosts out of your base would be more useful.

And you could craft your own tombstones maybe? And write in the inscription!

In The Stomping Land and in Ark Survival -both dinosaur games, btw- there are really good alliance systems. Maybe Klei should look at these games and screw bringing the alliance system and just bring the dinosaurs from them. Imagine dinosaurs in DST, it would be awesome. Maybe they could even be robotic dinosaurs in order to fit DST better. They could drop meat and steel when killed. Steel then maybe could be used to make missiles.

-Basically what Mena said, destroying a skeleton is considered desecrating it. Maybe burying it, would give you a benefit, then placing flowers would give it a better benefit. But destroying skeletons would mean you are defacing them.

-This is the main thing I agree with, mainly it would be if the player is in your group or a Steam Friend.

-Dual Purpose. I think if we get a berry bush trap, it could work, but you'd need to have it work for PvE, too (gobblers). Maybe something else too like a trap built out of gears and pulls enemies and players in from a radius, or a trap that is like a lower tier Houndius Shootius (dart traps?)

@ohhaithere,For a moment, you caught me off guard there. Don't scare me with your almost logical suggestions like that.

the others, I'm not sure if they feel right. Working together is already kinda powerful, so I don't think they need extra benefit. and the other seems fine, but a bit too UI intensive.

Maybe you could bury skeletons in a grave, and then it literally became a regular grave, where you can dig it up for random loot.

Being able to bury it and dig it up right away for loot doesn't seem right to me. Maybe instead you have to wait a long number of days, possibly an entire season, before you get anything from diging it up. We can say that after a while a moleworm ended up digging by and accidentally left an item there.

Ok, not my best idea, but it at least offers some explanation.
