"It's just simpler, not more simpler. The way you said it is redundant #grammarnazi"

It took a moment for Shana to respond, as she was stunned by the sight of the dogs and the whip.

"A-an answer to all those questions would be appreciated."

"Ah, I like those questions, I feel like nobody cares for how things came to be... Well, we're in the Hollows, a vast network of tunnels carved out by worms traveling to and fro. Have you seen a wormhole yet? Strange things they are, nobody seems to understand them. Anyways, this is where all the monsters go at night, it's warm, hidden, and well protected from the dark. That is why he brought us here, it is a perfect place to plot against our enemies."

She looked around the walls of the place, rough and jagged. The light bending the shadows as they walked through.

"My name is Vennyle, thanks for asking. I gather information about everything by spying through reflections, I can even walk through and bring others with me, thus how you got here."

Vennyle smiled at Shana, obviously enjoying the conversation. She new Shana was scared and couldn't do anything about it, after all, she was scared the first time she entered the tunnels as well.

"I'm taking you to Disparel, the Prince of Blood, as he likes to be titled. He will inspect you and take that wretched darkness out of your soul and replace it with his fiery light. Don't worry, you won't turn into a demon like me, we can sculpt you into anything you desire. So when you go home, your parents will be very proud and grateful. They will love you forever, treat you like a real daughter."

"We're close, are you ok? Is there anything else I can do for you?"

Quiet    190

You'd better do Jakob justice, Quiet. I'll be watching.)

*closes windows nervously and shuts blinds*

A small child lies broken and bloody at the bottom of a long, deep shaft.  A ray of sun shines down the haft onto his body, creating an island of light in a wide expanse of darkness.  The boy is alive; though his breathing is weak and ragged.  He is clearly horribly injured.

A pair of cold, white eyes gaze out from the unlit void, staring out at the boy.  Sniffing out the scent of his blood, which streams slowly across the uneven stone floor.  It is young, untainted, and gloriously fresh.  A hideously long tongue snakes across the ground, sucking up the blood like the proboscis of a mosquito.  The moment the liquid passes its lips, it immediately feels an unquenchable thirst for more.  The boy awakens just in time to see hundreds of the thin, hollow tubes slithering towards him out of the darkness.  He screams in childish fear, but he finds he cannot move.

The proboscises slip under his skin without meeting any resistance.  He watches in terror as they move towards his heart and veins, and then...begin to drink.

Jakob Battal awakes with a start, the sunlight shocking his eyes.  They take a moment to adjust to the brightness of the sun, which was the first out-of-place thing he noticed.  Second of all was the grass brushing his hands and face; he no longer slept on the ground, and grass was not very common where he came from.

He stands up and looks around, to find a very different landscape from where he was before.  It appears to be some kind of wilderness, full of swaying pine trees and saplings.

Shana shook her head, starting to feel a little more comfortable thanks to Vennyle's hospitality.

"I'm fine, thank you."

She paused a moment to take in all this information.

"You mean I can go home after this?"

Ethel sat on a log, staring at the fire he had created. It was almost night, and he had yet to find any sort of recognizable landmark. What bothered him most were the faint memories his breakdown. He remembered vividly outlandish creatures, and he could only hear a dark laugh. Ethel poked a log in the fire with his spear as he sighed.

"Damn, how am I gonna get home? Mom and Dad are probably pissed..."

Ethel looked at his right wrist, expecting his watch to be there, but was disappointed when it wasn't.

"God damn, how much did that guy take off of me? Ugh, freaking thief."

Vennyle smirked, "Well my child, it isn't quite that simple. You see, an evil darkness is keeping you here. The first step is to take it out of you, which is what we are going to do while you're here. Then we will have to fight against it every night until it is weak enough to imprison... Then we can focus on getting you, and everyone else back home."

She was obviously leaving things out and simplifying things, but it didn't matter to her. She knew Shana didn't know anything about what was going on, so she was content with her reply.

(You should probably tell Blew if another frog bitc- I mean smacks him in the face again.)

"I'm guessing the enemies you mentioned are responsible for this darkness?"

(Scrolls up... yes!)

"For the most part," the vaguest thing she has probably said so far.

..................

Sure enough, another frog comes out of the pond. This one does not immediately smack Wunan in the face, but lingers at the surface of the pond, gazing deeply and passionately into the man's eyes.

(Also, if you could give my char something to do, I'd appreciate it.  Maybe have him have spawned near a small town, IDK.)

Jakob sees a billow of smoke in the near distance, probably from a fire of some sort. The sun was starting to get low in the sky, but there was still plenty of time before night would come.

Where there's smoke, there's fire, which was usually enough motivation to send Battal anywhere.  However, as he was still confused about his situation, he headed towards the grey cloud for another reason; to figure out what the hell was going on.  He also hoped to get to some kind of shelter; though he had slept in much worse places than this, he knew well enough the sorts of things that lurked in the darkness.

Battal came upon a small village, surrounded by a makeshift stone wall standing around six foot tall. It wasn't a large town, probably consisting of around twelve two-story houses. The smoke he saw was coming from a smithy, but there was no sound or sight of anybody from what he saw outside the wall.

Battal vaulted the wall with little trouble, then started searching the town for any people.  He kept his eyes out for any sort of inn or tavern.

The town was well kept. Flowers were growing, fallen leaves brushed aside, there seemed to be nothing out of place. The only thing strange was the fact nobody was around, not a single soul. No sign of biological life anywhere. The rocky pathway that connected the houses and shops seemed to lead to a town hall of sorts, which looked barren as did everything else. Just the smoke from the blacksmith's forge and the eerie silence that filled the air.

Jakob looks around the ghostly town.  Though he has seen stranger, this place is odd even by his standards.  He walks up to the town hall, and shoves open the doors.  "Hello?"  He asks, stepping inside the building.

(Feels like I'm playing Zork)

The place was spotless, not a single thing out of place. The bar was stocked, tables were set up, and the candles that are used to light the place were flickering. The area gave off a warm and cozy vibe; but it still lacked people.

Shana frowned a little, obviously not satisfied with such a vauge answer, but she didn't say anything more about it. Maybe Disparel would give her more details on it.

(I just noticed that Disparel sounds like dispair lol)

"Hmph."  Battal says, starting to examine every inch of the town hall for any signs of secret doors, entrances, or passages.  The only other way that this village could run in this condition without citizens was magic; something he really didn't want to deal with so early in this new land.

(Dispair + Peril = Disparel!)

The two arrived at a Nexus of sorts. Four tunnels converged into one space which created a large, open space. Some type of stronghold was built in the middle, built out of a dark red brick (Nether fortress!). "We're here! I'll escort you to your room, it has a nice bed and some warm food. We will talk about what we are going to do tomorrow."

Vennyle takes her through the main gate and to the right. Imps guarded the entrance and gargoyles were positioned throughout the complex. They didn't linger very long as Vennyle briskly walked into another door. She brought Shana up a flight of stairs and opened the door. "Here's your room! Designed just to fit your tastes. Now the only thing I ask of you is to stay in the room, it's dangerous around here. I won't be back again, it was nice talking to you!"

(I don't know what Shana likes so you can describe the room...)

Upon further inspection, Battal could see scratch marks on the wooden floor. They were around the same distance apart from each other and seemed to be made by something heavy. No secrets could be found, just a couple bedrooms, consisting of a bed and furniture; a room with a big table, consisting of a map of the town and an ornate rug on the floor; and a kitchen, fully stocked with food for anybody staying in the place.

The main room consisted of a bar, tables, and an unlit fireplace with wood and kindling set within. The bedrooms were up the stairs and a balcony overlooked the main area. The room with the map was in the back of the building and the kitchen could be accessed behind the bar.

Opal sat leaning against the trunk of one of the many trees, night had finally come, and she was alone, sitting in the pitch-black darkness, the only light coming from the onyx gem that rested above where her heart would be on her torso, it emitted an eerie light which was only bright enough to see a few inches in front of her. As she leaned her head back, she caught a glimpse of a bit of smoke rising up from somewhere from a nearby pine forest. This being the only thing for miles that held any sort of interest to her, she stood up, stretching her arms and legs, and started off towards the source of the smoke, guided by the small amount of light coming from her chest.

(Im assuming it's about night time, since the last post with any mention of time was Will's last post, in which it was nearing night)

(Alright, this is how the night system is going to work. Almost every night, you will have a nightmare. This means you have to write a whole nightmare every time you sleep. Now, if you don't write a nightmare and you choose to stay up the entire night because your character doesn't want to have a nightmare [or because you're a lazy fcuk and you don't want to write a nightmare ;)] your senses and powers will be weakened until the next time you sleep. I won't ask for a nightmare every night and there are exceptions.)

This also means that if you're alone in the wilderness and you decide to sleep, creatures can take the opportunity to attack you. So this puts some meaning on guard cycles if you're with another person. You aren't required to write a nightmare tonight, but feel free if you want to. Here are some ways you can use nightmares (and also nightmares you can experience):

Developing your character, dream about Kalus and Darkness, dream about Disparel and Chaos, foreshadowing future events, and entertainment.

If you need Kalus or Disparel to speak in a dream, we can have a conversation using private message. I can also tell you an event you can foreshadow. There will be another special thing that you can do in nightmares but that will come when everyone is situated. If you have any further questions about nighttime and dreams, post it here for others may have the same question.

Quiet    190

Upon seeing the scratches, Jakob pulls out his broadsword, a massive, black weapon that seems to absorb all the light around it.  He is unsure if the marks are caused by an animal or simply someone carrying a heavy object, but he decides he's better safe than sorry.  Blade in hand, he follows the trail.
