Holly looked at her wrist to check the time, and was met with surprise as her wrist had no watch.

"Ah crap... Left my watch home..." She muttered.

Holly looked up and saw the sun in the sky, currently in the east. It was late in the morning,

and they didn't have any direction. She pondered what they would do, when all of a sudden hunger hit her like a freight train.

"Mmmmmmmm.... Welp, I'm hungry. You got any food on you?" She asked Bonnie.

"About a day."

Shana paused a moment, thinking back on the events that led her here and how to word them. "There was... an accident. It burned my face and eyes to the point where I couldn't see. I was taken to several doctors; they all said it was permanent, but my parents kept scheduling appointments and surgerys to try to fix my sight. It was after one of these useless surgerys that... someone said he could give me my sight back. The next thing I knew I woke up here; like this." She motioned to her covered eyes.

"Just Vennyle and the man that accompanied during breakfast and led me here. I didn't catch his name..."

"Not very much. It was only a few minutes after I got here that Vennyle found me. All I know is what she's told me."

"No..." she paused for a second in thought. "Unless you count what Vennyle showed me at the pond."

"...To remove the darkness in me?"

A large amount of grunting and heaving could be heard from within the shack, the roof slowly rose and locked into place. An agitated cry came from the house and then everything went back to normal. The shack looked unscathed, but there was fire still burning through the forest.

The creatures nodded with each answer but one stops as he hears about the guy at breakfast, "Did he say anything to you?" one of them asks.

Opal stared at him with an irritated expression "You're a real stickler for details, aren't ya hothead? I might not hold the esteemed title of "Grand Master Fire-Dude" but I highly doubt it matters to the guy who's house I just accidentally burned down."

"Besides." she looked down nervously at his hands "I'm not sure I'd want to be a pyromancer anyways."

The cat mewed in agreement.

"Yes. He asked me if I was going to get the darkness taken out of me today. He said he had it done himself and then we just kinda talked about that while he led me to the gargoyles that escorted me here. He said he'd see me when I was done."

"Eugh" Opal is visually disgusted at the thought of what such a merging would look like

"What are you doing her anyway?" she asked "Surely someone of your considerable status and likely wealth could not be bothered to check every random forest fire that springs up, don't you have somewhere to be or something?" she said mockingly

"Like killing things." Solortus spoke. (It only speaks directly to the wielders mind, so Jakob is the only one who hears.)

..........................................................

"That's good... good... Come with me," one of the creatures said, bringing Shana further into the complex.

"Hm...good question..."

"OH GREAT...PERIL!  WE SEEK ENTRY TO YOUR LANDS!  GRANT US PASSAGE, AND WE SHALL BE IN YOUR DEBT!"  Jakob yells at the sky, raising his arms.  His sleeves and coattails whip around as an unnatural wind sweeps through the clearing.  The dead tree's limbs clack together like bones.

An awkward silence follows.

Opal, dazed from the unexpected success of Jakob's plan, muttered "That uh... Actually worked" she stared up, looking for any sign of something in the unfathomable depths of the blue sky. "Um... CAN I COME TOO, IT'S KINDA BORING HERE!" she shouted.
