How do you use your rot?

Recommended Posts

It seems I'm hoarding more rot than I can handle; I'm collecting rot faster than I can use it for the likes of fertilising my plants and having a small store for extinguishing smoldering objects in summer.

So to spark some inspiration on how to use the 3 stacks (and growing!) of rot, how do you use yours?

Cheers,

Tamazacat.

I use it to bait pigmen

Huh. I'd never thought to use it like that before. Cheers! :-)

THE PIGSKIN OF A THOUSAND PIGS WILL BE MINE!

Burn it.

A few of them can fuel a firepit for a night, but I forget how many it would take to get it to max. 15?

I use it mainly as fuel, especially when travelling.

Burning it to get ash is another good application, so you can make disinfectant.

You see, I have a chest full of wood and an overflow chest to mop up the two stacks that don't quite fit.

I know you could say that I should just stop cutting down trees, but I can't help it! THE TREES MUST DIE!!! That's coming from an ecologically-concerned to-be marine biologist... Oh, the irony.

I use it on berry bushes or more frequently grass.

if you want to use all of it up really quickly, try growing plants using it.

I have been using it to fertilise berry bushes and grass. I've found, though, that they needn't be fertilised as frequently as I thought. In fact, I have a chest full of grass that I can't seem to shake. Kind of like the rot situation, except I can control the buildup of grass. Oh, God... the rot. :'(

Plus, I've so many berry bushes they more or less negate the need for growing veggies - apart from in the summer.

I suppose I could stop harvesting my berries and just go for veggies instead, though.

Did all of that sound like I was showing off? I apologise; that wasn't the way it was intended to come across. Although it is a nice feeling. Hehe.

If there's one thing I've learned from playing don't starve, it's that you can literally never have enough grass next to you home. The stuff is just so useful, more grass means more drying racks, means more jerky, means less rot.

Also, I find trying to make a large dragonfruit farm to be a very successful waste of rot.

I know, but thanks for putting it out there - others might not have known. :)

It's just so hard to kill things that haven't lived life to the fullest.
Anyway, we're derailing pretty hard here. :p

Does anyone else do anything whacky and out there with their rot?
I noticed Bearger eats rot, so I suppose I could just use that to make him fall asleep. Or kill him from the health loss... Hehe.
In fact, does anyone know how many stacks of rot it would take to kill the big, bad bear?

Bearger has 3000 HP [src]

Rot deals 1 HP damage [src]

Mathematics suggest between 2950 and 2970 and a wack with a coconut.

Oh. Well... that sounds very... ambitious now. O.o

Thanks for the info. :)

You can refuel ice flingers with it.

You know, I'd overlooked that. Cheers! :)
