Prince143
BEFORE the winter you just need to get some food resources and put those in the ice box and make a dry racks for meat so they will not spoil faster and then , that's it. Catweaselcrow
Monster meat -> Cooked monster meat -> Feed to caged bird -> receive eggs. Trap rabbits for morsels. Between monster meat, morsels and eggs, You should be able to whip something up in the crockpot. If you have RoG, one monster meat and 3 ice makes meatballs, and there's no shortage of ice once the pengulls turn up. DragonDePlatino
Another neat trick (which I haven't tried myself) is that you can make some gunpowder, light it in the middle of a pengull group, and collect the resulting spoils. Apparently, this will give you cooked drumsticks, cooked morsels and fried eggs. Enbo
Another neat trick (which I haven't tried myself) is that you can make some gunpowder, light it in the middle of a pengull group, and collect the resulting spoils. Apparently, this will give you cooked drumsticks, cooked morsels and fried eggs. That's a very poor choice as one pengull has low drops; 10% morsels and drumstick, 20% jet feather. And one egg, in case they did hide one. It's not a good food source nor a wise use of materials. In winter you mine. Ice. Then you kill spiders. 3 ice n 1 monstr meat, as weasel mentioned. If you want to have warm clothing for winter, kill 3 beefalos, they will give you 9 wool and maybe a horn. At this point winter becomes easy peasy lemon squeezy. You keep farmin beefalos for meat or spiders for monsetr meat to do meatballs, and you can hunt Mactusk to get tam and walking cane, and hunt a koalephant for a puffy vest. If winter isn't already gone by this point (if the season is long or is always winter) you just keep farming silk and hounds tooth for sewing kit to repair your clothes and keep finding food sources, which ain't hard, you got a lot of options. Mobbstar
Generally, you should consider settling near (but not in immediate range of) MacTusk & Son Hunting Co. They have meat, hounds teeth and blowdarts (for dear clops) to offer, and even walking canes and dapper hats for long-term customers! Of course you should adapt your wardrobe to the niveau of a hunter party for that. Try to bring a friend who can take (or counter) slingshot arguments for you, and make sure they get greeted first. EDIT: Their products alone won't suffice for your ambitions, you'll need other suppliers. Gather some koalefants and keep them in close proximity (or even enclose them) to get manure for your firepit. It saves you time in the woods, so you can gather food instead. Living near a pig village may be a good idea too, especially if you aren't prepared for dear clops. Karnkate
During my first winter I feed on cooked morsels. The winters coming after this, I have enough pigmen and rock lobsters to hunt down maybe 1-4 Beefalos (when I'm lazy to kite) and 2 werepigs daily. In summary my main food is meat. I dry them into jerkies. When jerkies start to rot (almost halfway through spoilage), I just cook up some honey ham.For clothing, since I play as Wilson, I usually stick to his magnificent beard and two thermal stones. Then I start hunting for koelephants if there is a track near my base.
