Alright, alright.  I would probably still prefer singleplayer, but given how far the game has come ... it is a good idea.

I do have one silly question.  Will there be flying pigmen when playing multiplayer?

Why are some of you so disappointed and upset?

I mean what is your reasoning, besides Klei's initial dislike of the concept? Are you guys just hopping on the multiplayer hating bandwagon because it was so cemented into your heads that Don't Starve multiplayer is bad?

If Klei is convinced that this will work, I'm convinced that this will work. Don't Starve turned out great. Reign of Giants turned out great. Some of you need to take a good long look at this, longer than you have, because you are acting as if this shatters everything good that Klei has done.

That's sad, guys. That actually makes me sad.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Klei does with it.

I totally agree with this.

I can't understand how someone can hate Klei for changing direction? They said they were never going to add it because how they felt it would destroy the games atmosphere, I know, but do you seriously think Klei would add multiplayer if they really didn't thought this could be an awesome addition to the game?

And still; It's not like they're removing singleplayer. It's your choise!

Just wait until summer, and Klei will once again blow your minds away with a new awesome function! As someone mentioned, just imagine playing with all the friends we have here on the forum!

I'm sure, this is going to be AWESOME!

And to all who say they're leaving: Bye, we'll miss you. But I'm totally staying here to see how this project turns out! :-)

The issue with that is that it's not actually "multiplayer or new content". They brought in people to do this, if you read the announcement thread. They likely decided they were done adding specific content before thinking of multiplayer. If they didn't add something, it's not because of multiplayer, it's because they didn't see a need for it.

Oh well, i think thats a 'to each one its own opinion' thing. I honestly feel like the game needs more, not even just game-wise but also backstory wise, but if they thing they should add more backstories before that i can only hope they'll do it when MP is done at least.

Besides that they've always said 'NO MULTIPLAYER' and then they just add it suddendly, it was obvious no everyone would accept such a change in their opinions that fast.

I'm so excited! I really hope the multiplayer is compatible with mods, especially custom characters. I don't want to stop playing as Satori.

If mods are enabled for multiplayer, I will be so damn happy. Other peeps can watch me play as my custom character! :D

I can understand what you mean, and this does not make me rule out anything Klei has done, because this is one of my favourite games and playing RoG for the first time, it was magical, but I've always been against Multiplayer on the grounds that an evil demon hs brought you to an island wilderness, on which you slowly go insane due to all manner of things, but the thing that really makes the atmosphere of Don't Starve for me is the lonliness aspect. And adding Multiplayer detracts from it. In my opinion at least.

I'm happy for you guys that want this, but I doubt I will personally play much of this. To me, this will feel almost like a different game, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Good luck to Klei, and I hope it works out.

Oh, and I'd like to take issue with some of the 'in your face' posts here. People have valid opinions, and whilst many multiplayer threads were not very 'sensitively' handled, this was due to the amount of them, and the fact there was a stickied post explaining the situation. Also, if you still feel people were being unreasonable, there is no need to 'stoop to their level', as it were.

That seems extremely unlikely to work unless all players have the mod, but who knows. They do already have the functionality for downloading mods, so it might work for Steam mods.

Great. Now you decided and I believed you didn't plan this: guess what Klei just kicked Crynux in the butt! He was working on multiplayer and even putting his server into this! Now you just literally WRECKED all the work he was aiming for! Thanks!

Okay now that I've RAGED at you Klei I have a few questions. Most importantly:

How us the PAUSE system gonna work? Are players gonna be frozen yet the game keeps going?

The other questions:

Will there be multiple eyebones and will we be able to get more Glommers during full moons so that if someone has taken glommer another one spawns the next full moon?

How is the game gonna begin? Looking at the picture I'm assuming that when one makes a world second up until fourth player can come in and join through the "Wilson's door" right? What if someone wants to leave? Will the maps be saved? Will it be possible to come back to the same map the next day?

Will the world travelling systems work? So if someone goes to the next world/caves/adventure mode the other players can stay in the world and if someone else goes to caves/next world/adventure mode they would end up in the same next world/caves/adventure mode world instead of randomly generating new one, splitting players apart forever?

What about meat effegies and touch stones? Are players gonna respawn at the touchstones they activated and meat effegies they creared or anyone can spawn in any? Cause if you can respawn at the ones that YOU made or activated that would kind of crash the game, especially if you then leave the map and someone hammers it.

If game crashes, is it gonna crash the whole server/server system(you probably dunno yourselves)?

What about mods? Will they work only if every person has the same one or the game will crash if somebody crafts a mod item that is not activated by the other players?

Will we get chat? It's be awesome to type something and then the character says what you said!

The biggest problem when there is more than one player in one game is that when two or more players go for the same item the game crashes: how couldthis be fixed (this has happened in local multiplayer mods)?

If you died, could you enter the same world again?

Will other players be able to kill each other? :p (I hope not)

What about sleeping stuff? They make you skip day. I'm thinking that the game would basically pause for you and you wouldn't be able to move and you wouldn't skip the night/day unless every player has gone to sleep. If you go to sleep whilst others are awake your sanity would go up and so would health, you wouldn't get killed by charlie. If everybody goes to sleep you all get the hunger penalty and sanity and depending what you sleep on also health which would skip the night/day. The hound attacks wouldn't be possible and neither would the giants be able to come around while you sleep may be. If you take siesta lean to and the others don't then you would have paused the game until evening which is when you would wake up.

What about hound attacks and giants? Will they spawn randomly to one character at random or to everybody a new one? If for only one at random then the character who's affected by it, would hear the sound but the others wouldn't even if they're close to that player. Would be good if you could all hear the sound of hounds and giants coming but they would spawn near one player only. The only problem would be that someone could stand near a point where the hounds/giants spawn, making it look unreal. So what if the giants and hounds would spawn where none can see them yet so close, so like with the glaciers: they don't spawn anymore on resources.

One little point: if there are going to be more eyebones: make one have a chance to spawn in the graveyard: it just would feel cool with the atmosphere...

PS: here is a story for you. Sinse Wilson couldn't bring just some random people into the world (why would they come) he would just be someone who resurrects people with the door that haf already died (the characters we got now) in the world.

I'm not sure if i can be happy about that. I would prefer another DLC with additional content a lot more than multiplayer and I would gladly pay for that. This seems like a waste of time and ressources. There are already multiplayer mods that work, even if they need some improvement. But ok, if this is what people want.

I don't really get it...

Team Fortress 2 and World of Warcraft are multiplayer games. Don't Starve is not a multiplayer game. It just doesn't fit. It would be like adding multiplayer to The Walking Dead telltale game. The whole point is that you are ALONNNNNNNEEEEEEE

What is really sad is that half the people who worked so hard on the puzzle probably don't even want multiplayer. I guess I don't really mind if they add it, but I wish they were working on a new DLC or some actual character development.
