It was sarcasm btw,  I love Mario RPG for those types of things.

Oh okay then. Sorry, realizing that something is sarcastic can be tricky on the interwebs.

Back on topic though, I'd say either an implimentation as an official mod or as an easteregg character would work fine. Probably more leaning towards mod actually, it's even more opinion-neutral.

It has no right to be put in the game officially.  Just put all the unfitting cheep novelty character's in Steam Workshop.

The game just happens to be terrible when it comes to crossovers.  One of the only IP's I could see working is Animal Crossing.  It be better if they were just working on adding Wortox instead.

You are saying that just because you don't want Willow to be replaced.

Maybe I should state my reasons.

One, complete ruination of the atmosphere.  I don't care what crazy lore they come up with, you don't put a flamethrower-toting mercenary from modern times into a game where most of the chars are from the 1900s.  And don't say "u don't have 2 play it"  because just scrolling through the selection, there he is, forever reminding me of Klei's massive screwup.  Even worse if they add an in-game way to unlock him.

Two, because come on.  You've already had sponsored stuff in TF2, so what would the point be?  Returning the favor?  TF2 is already the "Highest rated free multiplayer game", so I don't think they need much help there.

If Klei comes up with an original Pyro character, say, a guy who managed to invent a crude flamethrower of whatever, add him!  That would be awesome. But if there's anything in video games I hate, its unoriginality.  And Klei has been so original thus far, it would be basically suicide at this point.  Don't add him.  Please.

EDIT:

I do agree with @F3RR1S, though.  A mod would satisfy the needs of those who want him, and let other players not deal with him.

Maybe I should state my reasons.

Not defending Wyro here but incorrect facts annoy me.

TF2 is set in the 1960s, not modern times. It's perfectly possible that Pyro would have been alive in the 20s when Don't Starve is set, since nobody knows who, what, how old, etc. Pyro is. Also, flamethrowers and flare guns were used in WWI, so a few years later in the 1920s they would still exist.

Again, I personally don't want Wyro added.

What, you expect me to research my facts before I make them?!?!? Absurd!~

If Pyro was added, it would make things messy. Other characters from other

fandoms would probably be requested, not likely considered, but still requested as official characters, even when mod are a proper alternative. I realize TF2 did a promo for DS a bit back, but it wasn't a new character.

The canon and story would no longer be DS and instead a DS-TF2 hybrid only a select crowd would support. Not all DS players play TF2 and I'm sure they would feel cheated.

I would either hate it or love it depending on how Wyro works.

Willow reskin? I'd hate that, but the files suggest that wouldn't be the case. (He is not like willow at all. He goes really insane around fire, can take damage from fire, can walk around with a arrow in his head, and kills people for a living.)

During the non-winter seasons, you would have to use endo-fires or the lantern to keep him keeping him from going crazy at night. Using the flare gun would cost him alot of sanity, same with fire hound rushes in summer. You would have to fight the Dragonfly insane, which I'd be interested in trying that.

Wyro can't do more than add his touch to his file on Don't Starve. If he mumbles instead of a music instrument, if pyrovision goes to far and doesn't resemble the normal world while insane, and if he doesn't hold almost the exact same animations as the other character it'll feel like he doesn't fit. He is the guest, not the host, so he needs to abide by the existing similarities between other characters.

(Ex: When he eats meat he does the same thing as everyone else, except his head is tilted down so it looks like he slipping the food into his mask even though we can't see that from the angle. Then he stands up while quickly pulling the mask tightly down, then wipes the food grease off his mask like the other character would do.)

I don't think pyrovision should completely reskin the world. Some creatures don't need anything because they are already cute. But maybe he could see baby beefalos fully covered with hair. I am thinking the uglier and more monstrous the creature, the more it looks different in pyroland. Though the creatures should resemble their normal versions. Personally I would prefer things like bubbles starting to appear the more Wyro is insane for a bit of atmosphere. Terrorbeak and crawling horror should look almost the same because they are pretty serious, but they can have a bubble style body while retaining their color and their shape.

In short, Wyro needs to act alot like the other characters and pyrovision can't completely reshape the world. However, he is a drastically different character mainly because of his insane love for fire.

Feel cheated for getting new content? I don't understand people.

Also, I want to thumb up Ridleys post, but I'm out of my quota. So Ridley, just imagine a like.

Someone else said pyro could be alive in the same time period as DS because TF2 timeline is around the 1960s. As for getting here, he must of angered Maxwell, which is what is presumed to happen to Wes.

( For those who may not know, bad things happen in TF2 when the soldier character angers a magician.)

As for silly people begging for other cross over characters, we'll have to just give our appreciated mods great birthday presents.

You mean like Abraham Lincoln?

He was the first Pyro in existance, according to TF2 lore.

I think he means willow.

Or maybe he means a pyro with a different mask and a make-shift flamethrower. Which is still pyro, but its has to be made by Klei.

Well, I voted that I agree.
I don't care because I won't play him and stay with my beloved Wickerbottom, but for poeple who want to have fun, well, it could be interesting. (And for flamethrower haters, Willow's lighter has infinite fuel... Maybe, if Wyro has his weapon, it will have to be refueled in order to balance the character).

Ok, first of all, TF2 Pyro's flamethrower is already make-shift, second of all, flamethrower was not planned, we only found flare gun and balloonicorn files.

Hmmm...

we only found flare gun and balloonicorn files.

*shoots self*

Nah don't want pyro unless they're going to be some sort of Willow reskin.

And even then I'd rather play as Willow because if I wanted to play pyro I'd go play TF2

There was something similar added to Killing Floor where pyro was added as a playable character too, but there theres only 2 voice actors and it was just a redskin then too. Even though they were styled to fit the game it just

Well you're fully aware that you're playing a character from another game and it just sorta takes away from the experience at least for me.

I just don't feel like it's needed and it wouldn't add anything to the game

And if you really wanted Pyro you could probably find a character mod on the steam workshop

But you realize the Pyro would be at the end of the list, right behind Wigfrid (Wathgirthr) and Webber (who will more likely than not added) So he'd a Stronger version of Willow, but I guess he'd still have a serious downside.

Just because they're at the end of the list doesn't mean they'd be stronger? We know nothing beyond the character slot portrait and the flare gun.

Personally I just think it's leftovers from the TF2 tie-in from awhile back
