Did Wilson create the Giants?

Recommended Posts

I know this seems very ridiculous to think, but story-wise, it may fit. Maxwell is off the throne and, most likely canon, Wilson is the new ruler. Did he make the Giants to torture Maxwell or were these just late additions that They forgot they had? It may be stupid just thinking about this story-wise, but it seems that this should be explained.

I doubt this will really be delved into in the game itself to be honest. It will probably just be adressed as if Maxwell is still the antagonist and the giants had been part of the world all along. Kinda like when they added new monsters and locations via the updates.

Plus if they had Wilson appear as the antagonist it would be kinda confusing to anyone who buys the DLC without playing the Epilogue. Because Maxwell would just kinda be gone without an explanation to them. Of course I realize that you weren't suggesting Klei would take the Wilson on the throne thing quite that far in game, but I'm just trying to highlight why I don't think they will attempt to advance the story with the DLC. Because I dare say only a small percentage of us have actually experienced it lol. I think it will just be pure gameplay content layered into what we already have.

Wilson IS the Giants.

And then Wilson was a giant.

Story wise i think the characters shift around with their turns on the throne, forgetting what is at the end of the adventure worlds when they are freed. Except Maxwell for some reason.

Wilson and/or Maxwell, are they or are they not Giants?

Well, They Might be Giants?

*Runs off from all that rotten food being thrown in his direction.*

Why is it that Maxwell is so considerably tall in comparison to Wilson, yet after Adventure Mode so small with no change in size to Wilson or any of the other characters put on the throne? That is the real question.

EDIT: Yes, I know the technical reason for the change to Maxwell's size, so don't bring it up.

He used magic tricks to appear taller.

That shr...err spoilers...the ending shows what he really looks like when he's moving after...spoilers.

You're forgetting *spoilers*

That Maxwell naturally looked that tall in the William Carter puzzles as seen in the Amazing Maxwell video. So why the shrink? Just to show his absolute lack of power? Then why don't the other characters grow in size and stature?

I think they  definitely need to make a change to his playable character model to make him more resemble his NPC model. I realize they can't make him too tall but surely they could have him be at least as tall as mighty Wolfgang, who is a fair bit taller than any other character and still works fine. They'd probably need to reduce the size of his head a little to get the proportions closer mind you.

I don't know enough about programming and all that jazz to say if any of that is technically feasible, but I'd definitely like to see it if it is. Maxwell's looks are like 90% of his appeal lol. He has that silent movie villain who likes tying women to railroads thing going on, but it just doesn't show through in his stumpy form.

I'm not saying that I don't agree with the shorter model, just that I would like a reasonable explanation for it. I mean it wouldn't be so far fetched if only it made the *spoilers*
other characters larger when seated on the nightmare throne.
It could just mean that he lost a lot of power when taken off of it.

Well we can make up any number of "lore based" reasons for it I guess, for lack of a better term. But the actual reason is that the devs, quite undersrandably, didn't want to have to code a completely different set of animations and then have to make sure they look okay during every possible interaction in the game just for one character that hardly anyone will play lol.

As a fan of the character I hope they reconsider that, but it's not likely to be a priority. I get that they have far more important things in mind, not least of all this DLC. And a Mark of the Ninja 2 plz? Plz???? :'(

As I stated before, the fact that they had to shrink Maxwell down for gameplay reasons was already known to me. What I hope Klei will elaborate on, is why he shrunk in-universe wise; the plot reason, if you will. I can only hope that they will explain this in the DLC, one way or another.

If the DLC focuses on the addition of a fall season, it stands to reason that the giants will "always have been on the island," in order to tie in with the season, although I would love to see the expansion of the plot. It would get old players interested in the game again.

Having Wilson create the monsters seems really fun though. I'd imagine as a bored scientist with tons of time, he'd do something like that regardless of the drawbacks. Perhaps a twisted passion for the deerclops served as an influence?

I don't think so. In the "Forbidden Knowledge" video Wilson was his original In-game size so... I can't think of anymore ideas how that would work.

I'm not sure if we can base Wilson's height on the Forbidden Knowledge trailer because we can't compare his size to anyone else. The only other person in the trailer was Maxwell, and that was only a giant floating head. Not exactly a good comparison, eh?

I guess. But if Wilson wasn't the same size as he was in Forbidden Knowledge then that means he would look more like Maxwell's Npc. Tall right? Or.. Maxwell was tall when he wasn't in the DS world so..

I'm not really saying that Wilson and Maxwell aren't that size in comparison to the real world, but that we just can't confirm it. Maybe this could be explained in further detail in the DLC, or maybe not. It would be nice though.

I think mechanics should be changed so that Maxwell appears as tall as he should be. Mod please!

That would pretty much break the game though. I'm not saying that it can't be done, but that it would look really, really off compared to everything else.
