Craig_Perry
after my 228 day Wendy save was lost by an unfortunate sequence of eventswhich I may entail later if people are actually bothered I found myself stuck at the character selection menu, wondering what character to be and how to adapt to each ones play-style while I have already figured out a Wendy play-style I would like to try something new, any suggestions? 23rd
I don't suppose this is possible, but I'd love to see someone play Willow and log creative, unconventional uses for her that make her more than just a training character throughout their playthrough. Could run into some pleasant surprises.

Neosaurus
I've resorted to mod characters, but only which fit with the game. Non of this "Octodad" sh!t. Wilton feels very much like part of the game to me, so yay.

Craig_Perry
See if Shadow Puppets are better than Abigail.that'd be an interesting test, but the fact that they decay so fast (1.5 days I believe) kinda makes it not worth it for the long term as you lose a nightmare fuel too.. I look at the buffs and debuffs and over complicate it for myself
GuGonce
How about Wickerbottom? Her books are awesome but you will need to live in a swamp or near one to get them. And since she can't use one of the most effective ways of regaining sanity,it will be different than the normal playstyle.

Besides all the time you'd spend hunting will be spent on getting Nightmare Fuel. You can easily survive on morsels dropped from birds the puppets will kill. Craig_Perry
I should really just do what i did before the strange new powers update, get each character to winter and see which is best for me
petitebougie
I remember going through every single character up to day 80 when strange new powers came out. By the end of that, I had pretty much adapted each character to my play style and somehow picked a favourite (ahemwendyahem). Granted it did take quite a bit of time, but by the end of it, most of the characters buffs and debuffs had grown on me and I even kept some of the saves longer than the planned 80 days. I guess another way to do things is use a number generator from 1 to 9 for each character, and whichever number you generate would be the character play. Then of course, there's the Wes way to do things
the truthseeker
I think you nailed it with the winter survival idea, but play them all until you feel you have one you like besides Wendy. Or if you really want to, go back to Wendy. But if you insist on playing a new character, I nominate one named Wes
Hpfm2
It all depends of the way you like to play. I for one, cannot seem to stay alive without Willows magic lighter, so that's with who I always play The most I lived without her was with Wolfgang till day 78. Wanna guess what killed me? .-. So, yeah, think about the way you play, the way you like to do things, what gives you most a hard time, and think what character is the best for said playstyle. ailailou
Here's a question for you all: how can anybody not get annoyed by Willows sparks when she's nervous? I've had one go with her since the Strange New Powers update and all I remember is me on day 4 planting some grass turfs which caught fire. Again. And again. And again, until I rage quited. Annymosa
Every character have their strengths and unique characteristics. How do you like to play? If you get murdered easily and can't handle the dark well, I'd really recommend Woodie. He has balanced stats, entertaining commentary, the mighty Lucy to keep you company, and his animations and sense of humour are adorable. Not to mention that you can always go beaver mode on anything. You become immune to the dark and can take down anything single-handedly, provided there are enough logs to chew around. Just keep in mind that you'll be quite exhausted after the werewolf werebeaver transformation.
oCrapaCreeper
that'd be an interesting test, but the fact that they decay so fast (1.5 days I believe) kinda makes it not worth it for the long term as you lose a nightmare fuel too..It's 2.5 days, actually. Although a single puppet is not better than Abigail in terms of combat. They do the same damage as her, but only have 75 health. They do assist you in chores, though. Nightmare fuel generally isn't a problem, you can get close to 100 nightmare fuel by living in the ruins for a few nightmare cycles. The much easier yet slower method is to simply farm beardlings. Maxwell also starts with some of it, so you can spawn 2 of them right off the bat.
the truthseeker
Just remember the Shadow summoning tips are for mid-late game playing since you can't really start in the caves safely until having the tam and/or walking cane for the most part, and definitely need weapons and armor for most places there. the truthseeker
Yeah, rabbits are great. Once you can raise and lower your sanity instantly (green mushrooms help at the start) you can own nightmare fuel. If you wanna try something new compared to Wendy, you could go with her polar-opposite: Wolfgang. If going in the other direction isn't the route you wanna take, I would suggest WX-78. Just make some friends outta pigs/bunnies/Rockthulus (Rockthuli?) and you'll feel right at home again. xD

xSadoro
Wait so rabbits dont run away from Maxwell's shadows??? ...They do run away from Abigail.... And nightmare fuel? I thought the best way to obtain it was killing nightmares... Maxwell seems to be designed to use insanity to his favor
