What's your loadout?

Top hat since my worlds tend to be so spider-heavy the silk just piles up. No reason not to bring one, leave it somewhere if I need the space, give it to a pig, whatever.

I use the Tam for sanity and the silk goes into bird traps to farm feathers in winter.

While above ground I take the umbrella when playing WX. Above and below, I also almost always take my walking cane since I (almost) always seem to find that one spot I can't go around that has the huge mobs fighting each other and I have to run through it. But it's all The Cave Circle of Life :)

What are the items you don't leave home without?

Still don't get why in the world people waste all their paper on honey poultice. Healing Salve is cheaper AND Heals more. You could be using those reeds to craft blow darts. Also why would you even bother with a pumpkin lantern when the new lantern is vastly superior.

Also FYI I guess you don't know this but that teleporter staff isn't going to work underground, and you really, really should have a miner hat for down there.

You have no idea what you're talking about :)

I don't go into the caves.  For me salve is expensive for the rocks it uses up.  The reeds and honey are more easily gathered and renewable.  Though, to be honest I just made my first ever honey poultice last night.  Usually when I need health or sanity I start eating the lesser recipes like honey nuggets.  You need to eat more for the hunger which in turn gives you more health and sanity for the same amount of hunger relief as, say, a honey ham or bacon and eggs.

Back on topic...

My first four slots are always logs, twigs, grass, and flint.  I almost never do without those.  My rightmost slot is always a torch.  then a spear and a spike to the left of that.  Everything else is situational.  If I'm wearing a backpack the axe, shovel, boomerang, helmet, and log suit go in there.

Did you know that you can use the numbers 1-0 to use items in your inventory? Wouldn't it make more sense to keep items in the first slots where you can equip them easily?

Personally, I find the single most useful item to be the walking cane.  Once you have one it's painful to move around without it.

Unless you don't care about the 7 less damage, I find the Lazy Explorer to be better...

Actually, the cane does default 17 damage. If you're gonna try to be smarter than everyone else, then please stick to the facts.

I've never felt the need to use 0-9 because the items change positions too much to be reliable.  Besides, I'm left handed. Left on the mouse and right on the arrow keys.  Keyboard gaming is one of the few areas in life where lefties have it better :)
