So let's talk about Depth Worms.

Recommended Posts

The community goes about saying that the game and caves are too easy. "Well, go forth and have coitus with yourself!" says the well-educated Depth Worm.

You shouldn't fight them heads on in a melee brawl, especially not when they're in groups or you will most likely meet your demise. I stand by my suggestion (will add this to a huge cave-related idea thread), that the worms should have a chance to drop high tier valuable loot including thulecite (shards). I'm sure they ate some o that stuff here and there. Oh and either make the glowberry not able to spoil or that you can stack them...

Edit: Should not forget @TeoSS69 's idea aswell, that the worms cannot surface on hard turf!

His Idea reminds me of Tremors.

Honestly the most effective strategy is the same one that people exploring the ruins should be familiar:

Keep moving. Never stop moving. And get a walking cane.

You should never fight anything down there except clockworks. Just keep moving.

Yeah but what when i run out of clockworks then what? I'll have to kill me some warms sooner or later...

But then how long before they want more? We'll have to feed them Matthew Gray Gubler, then Hugh Laurie. Before you know it we'll be digging up the corpse of Marlon Brando! He didn't even read his script for Apocalypse Now! He doesn't know what to do! He's just a giant overweight corpse!

How could you say such mean things in the end of your post about the worm?!

*Whispered to*

Oh, the other giant overweight corpse.

True, the worm is a much better subtle actor even when that other island of an actor was alive....

Personally I find they made depth worms far too strong. Its fun to fight em but occasionally but every 3 days...that's way too often. They drain my armor and stuff way too much for it to be even mildly worthwhile to go in caves. I think depth worms should either be nerfed or appear far less often. Having to run back to a defensive area every 3 days is not fun and I would imagine this is for many people another reason to not go in caves. No idea what Klei was thinking.

Why the hell do they have antennas? Angler-worm hybrid? Seriously, what the heck.

I guess that's the case. Animal hybrids are common thing in this game.

They should've been worms in ponds, that stuck out their antennas providing light in the dark and attracting small creatures towards it. Then when they got within range a huge worm would devour them. They should also have added bait to fishing poles, so that you could attach a fish to attract a creature higher in the food chain.

Then they'd not be a threat to people that don't fish...though fishing in caves is risk free...

That makes sense though. A lot of the risk involved with cave pools lies in drinking the water and there's no thirst mechanic in-game.
